Revolutionary Solar Power Collector and System

We have invented and patented a unique, advanced, highly efficient, concentrated solar power (CSP) collector. It can feed high temperature energy to long-term storage units called packed beds. We have expert German partners who will supply storage and expertise (enolcon.com & storasol.com).

Our collector is unique because it uses a gas as our thermal fluid rather than a low-temperature oil used by conventional ones. At about double their efficiencies, we concentrate solar energy and deliver high temperature energy to storage and a turbine/generator power plant.

Our international patent for our collector is into its final phases: Patent No. WO 2023/133646 A1. In the last few months we have created a significantly improved model for which our patent process has just begun, and which will provide our second and third lines of defence. This new model integrates two forms of solar energy concentration in an entirely new way which extends our useful collection and energy storage time well into periods when the skies are not perfectly clear. No other solar system has the high efficiencies of our SunScoop V collector while also combining them with our SunScoop VI’s collector’s ability to use low concentration photovoltaics when skies are hazy or partly cloudy.

Packed beds are a well-known storage technology. They are composed of readily available, inexpensive surface geological materials that last for many decades, do not degrade in performance, and provide storage for steady, baseload power throughout the seasons. Our system is ideal for grid, data centre, and desalinization purposes. In terms of its scale and economics, it may be thought of as the solar version of a hydro facility, massive, efficient, very long-lasting, and a producer of low cost energy.

Once we demonstrate its power through prototyping, our system will attract major AI and utility companies, as well as industries such as cement manufacturers.

Our German partners have deep experience in the energy business, particularly in packed bed storage units. They have followed our development and supported us for over five years. A Calgary engineering firm has aided us even longer and will help fabricate our prototype.

A senior C-suite advisor who has a strong background in the energy field and start-up experience has also joined us and is guiding our efforts to reach the market.

We have support from two University of Alberta engineering professors. We have recently brought onboard a third engineer and CSP expert based in Brazil and who will be our link to South America.  And we have two young engineers eager to join us.

For several years we have relied upon the expertise of Bennett Jones' intellectual property and corporate lawyers.

Robert M de Chazal is our CEO at this time. It is principally through his efforts, coupled with critical support and guidance at times, that we have reached this stage. The inventions are virtually entirely his creations. However, de Chazal does not have the experience to lead SunDraco into the stages beyond prototyping. Over the next two years, and based on positive test results, we will be bringing onboard a C-Suite team with the requisite energy and experience.

We intend to establish a centre of excellence in Edmonton where we will conduct our prototyping, continued R&D, and patenting. Once we have the verification we need, SunDraco will spawn an operating company in Calgary responsible for commodifying our IP, and a pilot plant and training site in southern Alberta.

Our next steps are to test our improved model, to refine our prototype designs using that information, and, with the help of our German partners, to conduct a robust, deep-level feasibility study of the system including collectors, storage and power plant.
