Hello,

Thank you for spending your precious time looking into my request.

The feature length film 'Sugar High Rhapsody ' promises to engage the audience in a unique perspective through the senses of a ten-year old synesthete, Lucy.  In her  world, music has colours and shapes,  voices have flavours,  numbers have personalities, letters can be stuck up and Fridays are always baby blue.

After insisting that eight plus five equals a bumble bee polka dance, Lucy is ridiculed by classmates and sent off to the principal's office by her teacher.  However, Lucy gets distracted by a colourful rooster that struts through hallways as she listens to music on her phone.  Lucy follows the elusive bird - out of the school building, through city streets and onto a gigantic rain puddle that has a purple paisley canoe waiting for Lucy's adventure.  Not unlike the story of 'Alice in Wonderland", Lucy encounters creatures and events that are bizarre to a regular person, but appear to be completely ordinary in her world.

Lucy's narrative is inspired by synestheisia, a neurological condition in which the brain involuntarily triggers several or all senses at the same time.  The film suggests that most of us are born with this condition, and loose it as we get older. Therefore, we can’t help but feel drawn into experiences that offer multi-sensory engagement.  Please, feel free to visit my website for more information on the subject of synesthesia, multi-sensory perception and sensory influencing: www.synestheticmedia.com

'Sugar High Rhapsody' targets pre-teen audience and offers a unique perspective to the whole family about a different way of knowing the world around us.

I feel the story is current and highly relevant in many ways.  In today’s world, we are fed content through screens and speakers, which is received with sight and sound.  Many brands are getting creative with ways to tap into more of our senses, with dynamic experiences that are both memorable and immersive.  We live in a visual world where omnipresent images, still or moving, compete relentlessly for our attention.  Wherever we go, wherever we look, we’re infused with visual messages. As a result, we can become numb and ignore much of what we see in front of us.  So we start looking for activities we can emotionally connect with, and, in return, create deeper and more engaging experiences.

One of the most revolutionary techniques used in media today is called sensory influencing, and it’s already been effectively used by some of major brands, education institutions, gaming industry and film studios to enhance user experience.  By simultaneously engaging senses of sound, smell, taste, and touch, media can have a greater impact on people's perception than they are consciously aware of. This allows creators to design sensory triggers that connect with audiences at a subconscious level.

‘Sugar High Rhapsody’ offers the concept of multi-sensory perception and influencing in a relatable, endearing and very personal story so that audiences can ‘try on’ the synesthetic or multi-sensory way of perceiving the world and be transformed by the experience.

I've based the story on my own synesthesia and research on the subject of intentional or involuntarily  multi-sensory perception.  My career as a filmmaker goes back to 2010 when I produced my first television series for youth for the Aboriginal Television Network in Vancouver, Canada, followed by another TV series, 'Health Nutz', and several online web series for APTN.  During this time, I've established a network of talented cast and crew members that are considered to be the top professionals in the entertainment industry both locally and internationally.  I'm fortunate to know that I can call on any of these creative professionals to work on filming the 'Sugar High Rhapsody' once the funding is secured.

With my experience in creating  various television series,  I'm intending for the 'Sugar High Rhapsody' feature film to become a pilot episode for a TV series centred around Lucy's character.

I hope the project has piqued your curiosity about this project! Please, feel free to visit my website and contact me with questions.

My your dreams spill into your enchanted reality in 2022!
