S.T.R.O.N.G. Center Foundation
The S.T.R.O.N.G. Center Foundation is a Michigan‑based nonprofit dedicated to improving the mental, emotional, and family wellbeing of first responders, corrections officers, dispatchers, healthcare workers, and their loved ones. Founded by Amanda Davarn, MA, LPC‑S, NCC, EMT‑B, the center was created to address the growing mental‑health crisis impacting those who protect our communities daily.
What We Do
We provide the state’s first fully integrated wellness hub designed exclusively for first responders and their families. Our model—called the C.A.R.E. Solution—combines:
- Clinical Mental Health Care: Trauma‑informed therapy, family counseling, crisis support, and psychiatric services from culturally competent clinicians.
- Advanced Peer Support: 24/7 trained peer responders offering confidential debriefings, crisis stabilization, and ongoing support.
- Responder Education: Accredited EMS education (MFR, EMT, Paramedic), AHA/NAEMT certifications, CEUs, and advanced simulation‑based training.
- Family & Wellness Services: On‑site licensed childcare, family counseling, support groups, resilience workshops, and community gathering spaces.
Bringing these services together under one roof is a model currently not available anywhere else in Michigan.
Who We Serve
Our programs are designed for:
- Firefighters
- EMS and paramedics
- Law enforcement officers
- 911 dispatchers
- Corrections officers
- Nurses and healthcare workers
- Spouses, partners, and children of first responders
These critical workforce members experience some of the highest rates of PTSD, depression, burnout, and suicide in the country—and often face cultural and logistical barriers to seeking care.
Our Facility & Vision
We are transforming an 18,000+ sq ft facility in Lansing, MI into a stigma‑free wellness center offering therapy, peer support, education, and licensed childcare. Our long‑term development plan includes:
- Phase 1: Retrofit and launch of the outpatient wellness center.
- Phase 2: Construction of a purpose‑built outpatient wellness campus with expanded services.
- Phase 3: A first‑responders‑specific residential treatment center, allowing Michigan responders to access intensive care without leaving the state.
Business Model
Our sustainability model blends diversified earned revenue with mission‑driven impact:
- Billable clinical therapy and psychiatric services
- Accredited EMS education programs
- Licensed childcare services
- Employer and agency partnerships/EAP contracts
- Grants, sponsorships, and community partnerships
This structure supports long‑term financial health while keeping services accessible to responder families.
Our Team
The S.T.R.O.N.G. Center is led by a multidisciplinary leadership team and a 10‑member board of directors with extensive experience in:
- Mental health

Their combined background ensures clinical excellence, cultural competency, and operational strength.
Why It Matters
First responders give everything to protect others—often at great personal cost. The S.T.R.O.N.G. Center Foundation exists to make sure they and their families finally have a dedicated, holistic, culturally competent place to heal, learn, connect, and thrive.
