Our spas have a nonporous surface that prevents black algae and mold from accumulating, a high gloss finish with contoured seating making them smoother and more comfortable than concrete as well as retain heat faster than concrete for more energy efficiency.

PROBLEM: Although Spillway Spas has been a nationally recognized brand for over twenty years, we only recently began manufacturing the entire process in-house. In 2019, under Michelle Teel’s vision, the company expanded beyond third party outsourcing and purchased all the major equipment, tooling, accompanying materials, professional training and new vendor relationships to be able to manufacture the entire process. Throughout that time up until present day, there have been major learning curves, lack of qualified laborer’s, material waste and unexpected expenses that have prohibited the company from balancing out cash flow while growing sales and marketing.

BUSINESS MODEL: Our company is a unique business in the Pool & Spa Industry as we are the only inground acrylic spa manufacturer who produces start to finish, sells and ships its only product. Our customers include multiple national distributors, pool contractors and home builders.
COMPETITION: Spillway Spas major competition is concrete along with the homeowners lack of knowledge that there is an alternative. For decades, most contractors have relied on concrete for the inground pool application and therefore accompanied the design with a concrete spa never giving the homeowner an option to choose comfort over concrete.
OUR VISION: With economic price fluctuations, material supply shortages and more internet research prior to purchase, now is the appropriate time to scale the Spillway Spas brand. We can achieve this goal by increasing the awareness of an alternative to concrete with our different spill over and non spill spa models, stepping into new industries i.e DIY and commercial spa applications as well as offer equipment/spa bundles for a one stop shop experience for any customer. We are the first and only company in the industry to offer such a product, which puts us first in line for tremendous success.
TRACTION: Spillway Spas has already achieved the hardest level of any expansion under Michelle Teel’s leadership. Going from outsourcing the product and relying on other companies manufacturing process to building a dedicated team, extensive quality control, upgraded website, personal vendor relationships and steady sales throughout.
FUNDING: The amount necessary to achieve the goals of our desired future is $300,000. The monies received will be allocated to equipment upgrades, warehouse staff hiring/training, target marketing, new builder installation training program implementation, material inventory, debt reduction and hiring qualified sales team professionals throughout the USA.
PROJECTIONS: Between 51%-60% of pools in the USA are inground with close to half accompanying them with concrete spas. Although the spa addition is typically welcomed once the design is completed, the concrete spas are not comfortable and thus seldom used. Our goal is to provide stronger national brand recognition for the homeowner to have an option to choose an alternative spa with a pool combination or a separate inground spa complimenting any backyard design.
