Hello. My name is Katherine and I am looking for funding to restart my orthodontic laboratory business. An orthodontic laboratory makes orthodontic appliances for dentists and orthodontists. Some examples of theses appliances would be retainers, expanders, sagittals, splints, and many more.
I have over 33 years in the orthodontic field. In 2000 I went back to school to get my Certified Dental Technician certification at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and I have maintained my certification since then. Once I graduated, I opened my orthodontic laboratory and it was open from 2002-2011. When I moved out of the country, I had to close my lab.
I recently have moved to the area where most of my previous clients were. I have kept in touch with one of my clients and he is waiting for me to open so that I can take over his appliances. I plan on getting some of my old clients back as well as marketing to several new ones. There are only 3 orthodontic laboratories and more than 25 orthodontists within 20 miles of me. This does not include the general dentists that I will market as well.
I plan on converting my garage into the lab at the moment and being the only employee. There is enough room for at least 2 employees. Once I acquire more clients, I will hire employees. My eventual goal is to outgrow my garage lab and move into a commercial space with more employees.
