Facebook Twitter LinkedIn

Restoration Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization aimed to provide transformational housing to young adults experiencing chronic homelessness through economical poverty or foster care displacement.  Our objective is to eliminate the anxiety search for a stable shelter and food source so the youth can become equipped with the tools to become independent and self-sustaining. We are looking to raise $500K to purchase and renovate a building in east TN, to increase our capacity and reach in the community.

Mission Statement: REACH one, then TEACH one, until we RESTORE one!

The Program

Our housing program will allow a stay of up to 24 months with the exception of residence under the age of 21. All potential residents will have to undergo a background check prior to admission as well as an initial assessment. All applicants are required to maintain proper identification, medical insurance, gainful employment, or income source, for residents under 18yrs old to pursue a high school diploma or GED. Each applicant will start on a 90-day probationary stay as we assess the need of each individual, Restoration hope will mentor our resident in overcoming crisis, self-destructive behaviors, or emotions that may perpetuate chronic homelessness.
Restoration Hope focuses on three main concerns, education, stability, and income. We service youth from 15-26 years of age. Our goal is to lead our participants into navigating academics, through online learning, or GED tutoring and readiness assessments, as well as college courses learning planning.
We are incorporate an internship program within our organization in;
·         store managed by Restoration Hope
·         apprenticeship cooking with our kitchen staff
·         internship in maintenance
Restoration hope currently offers career classes and self-paced modules on topics such as job readiness, cover letter, and resume writing, interview skill, dress code, and behaviors.
Our measure of success will include the resident is able to successfully complete the program with:
a.         maintaining gainful employment or steady income
b.         completion of academic goals
c.         ability to pay market rent
d.         accumulation of life skills needed to run a household

Need Assessment
 The problem we are tackling is the lack of support dedicated to youth aging out of foster care and young adults with and without children experiencing homelessness in economic hardship. While researching opportunities in our community we’ve found over the last five years, the number of temporary housing beds (Emergency Shelter, Safe Haven, and Transitional Housing) has decreased by 9%, and resources are not allocated for the age bracket of 15-26 year-olds. In our market research, we found, there are no housing facilities in Sullivan and Washington county dedicated to the age demographic our nonprofit supports. Resources such as job readiness programs and household classes are not readily accessible. Outreach events such as laundry services, clothing closets, and hygiene products are disjointed in distribution which causes a delay in its effectiveness in the community.

Project Vitality
The project vitality will be maintained from discount rent received upon the 2nd year of the program as the residences maintain a steady income. (As part of the program the resident will enter discounted rent program in which a portion of their income will be accepted as rent.) Restoration Hope also has an online thrift store revenue source (a physical location will launch in 2021).
