The Market● The $4.2 billion Music Publishing industry in the United States, which includes businesses that license musicians’ intellectual property, is expected to grow modestly over the next five years, aided by the digitization of music availability as well as by improved government prevention of online music piracy.
● Music publishing and licensing have become increasingly important industry sectors as digital content becomes the standard. Licensing alone accounted for $2.5 billion in global music industry revenues. As traditional album sales decline, licensing is expected to continue to grow. Competition in the music licensing industry is diverse, and is largely dependent on individual client needs and preferences.
Progress/Proof● The Company concentrates primarily on licensing music for use in film, games, television shows, and commercials. Rebel America draws from its in-house catalog whenever possible, and licenses content from third-party catalogs if an appropriate song cannot be found in-house. In addition, the Company licenses existing songs from artists who are signed to Rebel America.
● Rebel America receives royalty payments whenever a song it has licensed is used. The Company’s recent licensing credits include ABC, NBC, FOX, Forever 21, Mc Donalds, Porsche, Volkswagen, Burton, and many more.
Owner: James Dennis owns and operates the Company. Mr. Dennis has had a lifelong passion for the music industry, and formed his first publishing company, KnapiChild Publishing, in 1997. As his business grew in popularity, Mr. Dennis opened a dedicated office space, called The Studio in the Galleria, in the Uptown-Galleria District of Houston, Texas. He established the Beat Assassins project in 2005, and produced an EP that sold more than 20,000 units without a major distribution outlet. Five years later, Mr. Dennis founded Rebel America, where he focuses on creating new and more innovative promotional concepts and building industry relationships.
