My goal is to open a local Quilt shop to provide fabric, notions and classes to the people of Mountain Home, Idaho. I want my business to be a place in the community where people can gather not only for quilting, but for learning and friendship. I would like to teach the upcoming generations so the art can continue on. I plan to be a supporter of youth programs like 4H. I am a disabled veteran and wish to give back to my community in all ways I can.
Presently the closest quilt shops are in Boise or Twin Falls which entails planning at least a half day trip for shopping, even if its only a small need. I am involved in the quilt community of Mountain Home where I hear regularly that people are wanting a local quilt shop. I have also spoken with people outside of our community who would also like to see a shop here. Each local shop is individual in character and carries varied assortments of fabrics and supplies. Sometimes when someone can't be find what they want in a quilt store in one town, they can find in another. Quilt stores regularly refer people to different stores if they know the other store has what the customer is looking for.
I have been sewing since I was 8yr old. I have been quilting for the past 20+ years. I have worked at different fabric stores, I have been a teacher of sewing and quilting, I have a BA in Costume Design and an AA in bookkeeping. The understand the financial part of the business as well as the fabric side.
I am anticipating opening my store in July if I can get all of my funding in place. I have a place selected, but do not want to sign a lease contract unless I know I have money available.
I hope you can help me out. This has been a life long dream to open my own business. I am at a time in my life where this is now plausible. Please consider me for your funding.
