People easily get puzzled when they face dilemmas. It is common for Asians to go to temples to draw lots to help them make decisions, or pray for blessing for the decisions they have made. However, the results from drawing lots are usually not only affected by God's will. For example, the tickets are usually prepared by humans, which indicates that your results are affected by others as well. When these people who affect your results are not as sincere as you are, your results will not be as good as you wish. Therefore, we would like to use quantum physics to guarantee that the results you get from this APP can only be affected by God's will, i.e. the result is not predictable and affectable by anyone. Just like Einstein said: God plays the dice.
The app will be remotely connected to an on-demand quantum machine. Once the user sends a request on the APP, the quantum machine, as a cloud server, will send back the encrypted number, and the value of the number will correspond to different draw lot results. One simple example will like the following:
Alice has three job offers that she loves. She does not know which one to choose so she decides to use our APP for help. Since she has three options, our quantum machine will generate one number which can be either 1, 2, or 3. All these three numbers have the same probability of being found, and the final result of the number is only affected by quantum physics, i.e. God plays a 3-surface dice for Alice. Once we get the result from the machine, the result will be encrypted and sent back to Alice so that nobody touches it. If the result is number 1, Alice can choose job offer 1. If it is 2, she will go for job offer 2.
To develop such an APP, we need one experimental quantum physicist, which is me, an IOS APP developer, and an accountant for the business. I gained my Ph.D. in quantum information from the University of Rochester, and I'm now the quantum hardware tech lead leading the quantum hardware development team. Therefore, we only need to find a good IOS APP developer and an accountant.
We need about 150k to start this business:
1. 60k would be used for me to find the ideal quantum machine or leverage the quantum cloud service which is available online. Therefore, this may include the rent of a cloud quantum machine.
2. 60k would be used to hire an IOS developer to develop the APP. The typical cost for hiring a good IOS developer on Upwork is about 50-75 $/hour. The development lifecycle for a typical APP is about 1,000 to 1,200 hours.
3. 10K will be used for testing the APP before the launch in the APP store, and 15K will be used for marketing.
4. 5K will be used for hiring an accountant for creating the company, bookkeeping, tax filing, etc.
The launch time will be targeting the end of 2024. Ideally we would like to start the service before the holiday season.
