Public House 701 is a comfort tailored new restaurant in Durango, CO. Our menu features intentionally crafted dishes using local vegetables and proteins as much as possible.
We choose the name "Public House' as we wanted to create a warm and inviting atmosphere where our community can gather. Our vision is to create Public House 701 a much loved spot for both locals and our visitors.
With your support we aim to expand our catering; which requires more employees as well as replace some old and dated equipment. There are also some other small projects that would enhance our vision of our space. Of course any extra funds will go to the ever bottomless pit of marketing.
We have an amazing team. Our Chef, Sean Maness, is CIA trained. He brings vision and creativity to our menus. He is an amazing trainer and continually is teaching and growing our back of house staff. Our front of house staff is the best in Durango. They will always great your warmly and give you the best tips for your meal as well as what the Durango area has to offer.
Just being a restaurant owner we are either in crises, out of crises, or seem to be entering a new crises. Durango is a small tourist town and there is a lot of restaurants here. We chose a building off the bustling Main Street to allow a quite off the path spot. This is both a blessing and a curse. How we are solving this problem is through aggressive marketing and providing excellent food, drinks, and service. Being able to expand into both private events and catering will allow the cash flow to be more consistent and relied upon.
Catering, catering, catering is how we make the extra money to pull us through the down times that comes living in a more seasonal town and will also provide extra money we we are busy.
Being in business almost 2 years we have realized that secondary income for the restaurant is necessary to continue to grow. We are becoming more and more popular and projecting to exceed last year's revenue with just the restaurant alone. As we are able to add more catering events with more staff and growth I expect Public House 701's revenue to continue to grow. We are becoming the choice for local charities for their fundraising and social events; but still need to expand our catering services.
Durango, CO has a lot of restaurants. They are usually 1 of 2 types. A more formal spot or a more casual burger or pizza joint. We were very intentional in creating Public House 701. We wanted a place with excellent food and service that would be comfortable; a customer could come and dine for a date or after a day fishing or on the slopes.
We have projected that Public House 701 needs $75,000 to achieve our expanding goals. This will allow hiring of more staff, buying the equipment and food needed, and marketing our new catering service. This will further cement our spot in Durango, CO and allow us to reach more customers.
What does winning look like for Public House 701? That question is 2 fold. Durango has many athletes that compete in both the summer and winter Olympic games. Our goal is to be able to sponsor an athlete and their families while competing. Our final goal would be 5 athletes in each Olympic (summer and winter) game.
Our second win would be to open a smaller spot called Little House. This would be a breakfast/lunch spot also providing take home meals to cook at home. Also expanding this cook at home niche up at the local ski resort, Purgatory, for those who are too tired to prep, clean, and cook and also does not want to go out. Popping one of our take and bake meals will provide for them and their family an exceptional meal.
