Barkin’ Barley is a minority woman owned business, located in Gales Ferry, CT. Barkin' Barley is a craft beer taproom with an on-leash dog friendly patio with attached members only indoor/outdoor off-leash dog park. As the first of its kind in CT, our business is a new construction start-up seeking additional funds for capital and additional construction costs. We have secured our loans and are currently under construction.
With 10 years of sale experience working in medical device for Medtronic running a million territory, I have the ambition, knowledge, management and interpersonal skills required to launch and operate a successful business. My husband Patrick, COO, has years of management experience. He was integral part of the Surgical Administration team responsible for coordinating and consulting in construction, attained all necessary licensing and permitting needed to open. He was then on the management team. We have been building our Barkin' Barley business plan since 2017. We have worked closely with the town of Ledyard, LLHD, planning/zoning and all other relevant agencies on building this creative space in a way that satisfies all CT State regulations. Because we have worked so closely with the Town of Ledyard, we have gained a significant amount of traction in our area gaining 332 IG followers, 450 FB following, 600 email sign-ups, multiple partnership opportunities from food trucks vendors, dog treat vendors and breweries. We have had multiple people inquire about job opportunities. We have also been contacted by a few reporters seeking interviews and information regarding our business idea. We have started to build a following with unwavering support from our community as well as surrounding CT towns. Barkin Barley will put CT, our talented brewers and food trucks on the map.
Our business model is unique, creative and the first of its kind in CT. Barkin' Barley is a CT craft beer taproom featuring 30 flavors on draught, outdoor patio area, extended outdoor patio area featuring yard games, fire pits and outdoor seating for all of our on-leash dog friends and their families. We will also offer a membership based off leash dog park with monthly and annual pass packages. We have a great space to hold numerous events, adoption and dog clinics etc. We have already been contacted by multiple businesses looking to host events with us or at our facility. Barkin’ Barley does not have a kitchen to avoid overhead and the Health dept. Food will be provided by food trucks on a rotating basis. We offer 4 electric car charging stations as well. Barkin’ Barley will be a thoughtfully run business engaging the community and building a charitable arm of our business. Community service is important to us. We plan on building programs to assist our youth with learning, growth and scholarship opportunities.
