We are owner-operators of grease trap waste disposal/recycling facilities that provide disposal solutions for third party pumping companies. We produce revenue through tip fees from pumpers and also sell the fats, oils and grease (FOG/Brown Grease) portion of the waste stream for a beneficial use (green energy feedstock). The combination of the Grease Trap Disposal facility and recycling of the FOG/Brown Grease provides for a unique business model. As environmental regulations and a push for clean energy continue to be at the forefront of the energy discussion, our ability to extract the FOG/Brown Grease as a resource makes our business strategy stand alone in the marketplace. Our marketplace is regulated in all 50 states.
Grease trap waste consists of 90% water, 3-5% fats, oil, grease (FOG/Brown Grease) and the balance is solids in the form of food particles/trash. Our facility will pretreat the grease trap waste to remove the solids, grease and oils from the waste stream. We will capture 3-5% of the brown grease for resale and the balance of the grease trap water volume will be treated that is suitable to send to the local wastewater treatment plant and the solids to a local landfill.
Our type of facility has become increasingly necessary as many municipalities have banned the disposal of raw grease trap material at wastewater treatment plants and land application of raw grease trap is being regulated away. In January 2023, land application of grease trap waste was banned in Georgia and has also been previously banned in Florida. There is approximately 26 gallons of grease trap waste generated per person annually. The raw grease trap waste volumes in the states of Georgia and Florida are 838,500,000 gallons based on a combined population of 32,250,000 people. Our model represents capturing 20% of the available volumes that can no longer be land applied in these 2 states (we can increase this market share via proper funding resources). Our EPD permitting will be in place on May 1st (there are only a couple of other companies capable of processing grease trap waste in Georgia similar to us and these other companies are private not opened to third parties).
Our processing system is simplistic but designed with the best industry equipment in a manner unique to Pioneer. The essence of our process is the thermal and mechanical separation of fats, oils and greases from restaurant/food service grease trap water that is brought to the facility and then processed through a series of process tanks in a controlled environment. This includes use of grinders and a auger press on the front end which separates the trash, (rags, forks, plastic, etc.), for disposal at a landfill and the remaining water, food particles and FOG, will be sent to processing tanks. We will employ the use of steam, centrifuges, shaker screens, and tri-canters for removal of solids and separation of the oil. Our effluent water will be adjusted for pH at the end of the process prior to discharging to the wastewater treatment facility. Any food particles/solids will be either composed, sent to an anerobic digester or land filled. The process is stable and does not require sophisticated equipment to operate and is tolerant of operator error.
Our team consists of co-founders, one who has been involved in the grease trap pumping and disposal business and the other owns a fabrication company and has spent the last several years developing the technology to process the Brown Grease into Biodiesel. He also visited and consulted with numerous grease trap processing and wastewater treatment facilities around the country. These experiences have allowed best practices and techniques to process the grease trap waste stream to be perfected. We also have a couple of third-party consultants on the team, one who has over 25 years in the wastewater field and the other is a technical advisor who is a process engineer.
Our business model is greater than the states of Georgia and Florida as the disposal of grease trap waste is a universal problem to all 50 states. We also have the ability to assist municipal wastewater treatment plants with their FOG problems and have done so on a pilot scale.
We look forward to discussing our business opportunity further.
