Pfillery (the P is silent) will bring a bulk refill station to the fast growing Northern Colorado region, providing eco-friendly and all-natural home and body bulk products and other zero-waste products. Bulk products are purchased using a BYOC (Bring Your Own Container) philosophy to help reduce landfill waste.
The team consists solely of myself currently, but will in time bring on 1-2 part time employees.
We're facing a trash and landfill problem, specifically here in Larimer County. Our municipalities have robust recycling programs in place, but we want to take that a step further: empower and encourage people to use existing containers that they already own to fill with everyday household necessities.
We will uniquely serve our community as a general store of sorts, we also will offer numerous items to replace everyday single-use products to help further reduce waste going to both the recycling and landfill facilities.
Our local brick and mortar retail store will provide bulk eco-friendly products sold by weight: such as bar soaps, lotions, laundry detergents, cleaning liquids, shampoos, toothpaste tabs, beeswax food wraps, metal straws, refill containers and on a limited basis host workshops such as candle making classes and other community events. The out the door price for our products comes in well under big box retailers for common items, so what we offer will be of immense value to consumers as well. We also have products available for sale online on our website.
Loveland currently does NOT have any bulk grocer or refill store of any kind. This is truly the perfect opportunity to be the first one to tap into this wonderful artisan community that is experiencing rapid growth and revitalization. Currently, those wishing to experience a bulk refill store have to travel out of town to Fort Collins, and the store there is a true grocery bulk refill store focusing on dry goods food, whereas we want to fill the need for cleaning supplies, home goods, shower supplies, and alternatives to traditional consumables. This lack of competition sets us apart from everyone, and this is a unique advantage that we will have.
Pfillery will own the local market! Since this is a local movement, the market is as strong as the population of the community. Shop would be located in the ‘Fort Collins – Loveland Metropolitan Statistical Area’, which has a current population of roughly 362,000 people and is steadily growing at around 1% YOY. Median income is $78k which means we have an economically healthy population to tap into, not to mention the savings consumers will experience compared to big box stores. We will place recycling bins for all sorts of materials to provide a recycling location for patrons and community members alike. This will pique interest about our business, as well as drive heavy foot traffic. These recycling services will be offered freely, and collection will be provided by Pfillery, at no cost to the community. As a foundation of our business being eco-friendly, being centrally located is imperative to provide products and services to communities in food-deserts or where these products are hard to procure at existing stores in the area. We will plan to grow at a fast rate, and dominate the local refill bulk products market while making the community a better place.
The downtown Loveland area is currently undergoing a revitalization funded by the city, which has seen numerous luxury apartment buildings arising with only 1 national grocer within 3 miles of the downtown area.
We’ve already begun building and expanding a local presence via Facebook and are currently selling signature items like hand-made soap bars and other body products via our website. We already have several regular customers that are local and are looking forward to shopping at our brick and mortar. Being a Colorado native, I have encountered a few people on local community groups asking about refill stores and looking for the exact products we wish to sell, which is further confirmation that this is a gap that our community is ready for us to fill.
In order to get started, we are asking for an investment of around $50,000 to $100,000.
We plan to bring enough revenue in per month to pay all employees a fair and livable wage, cover all expenses, taxes, COGS, and also in a business savings account, plan for future expansion and growth. Pro forma is available.
We look forward to connecting if this is something that you would like to learn more about. Thank you so much for your consideration and time.
