Perk & Pup is a first-of-its-kind specialty coffee shop and professional dog grooming studio opening in the heart of historic downtown Frederick, Maryland. We've combined two of America's great passions - coffee and dogs - into one warm, community-centered destination.
Our 2,600 sq ft space in historic Frederick, MD offers diversified revenue streams: a full specialty coffee bar, self-serve dog wash bays, full-service professional grooming, and curated pet retail. Customers can enjoy an artisan espresso drink while their dog gets a bath, grab a bag of beans on their way out, and sign up for a recurring grooming membership - all in one stop. No other business in downtown Frederick offers anything close to this combination.
Our customers are the dog-loving, coffee-obsessed residents and professionals of Frederick and its surrounding suburbs - a community with limited pet retail or grooming presence in its downtown core.
The business is led by Jason Rupp, who brings 20+ years of executive leadership experience, including prior roles as CEO of member-based organizations. Jason holds a Q-Grader certification from the Coffee Quality Institute (the coffee equivalent of a Master Sommelier), a Coffee Valuation Assessor credential from the Specialty Coffee Association, and has completed professional barista, roasting, and dog grooming training. Perk & Pup is incorporated, fully insured, has an executed lease, and is targeting a mid-2026 opening.
