Raising $1mn for product development and sales of an AI to reduce food waste
Food waste is a $190bn annual problem in the US Retail and Food Service industries. Foodwise IQ is an AI-enabled food intelligence solution that captures and processes meal tray images to systematically measure and reduce food plate waste. Our solution provides food service operators, school meal administrators, nutritionists, chefs and planners with actionable insights on the value and quantity of food wasted, nutritional values, menu and ingredient recommendations, and optimal portion sizes. We have initial funding from USDA to build and test a prototype solution in 3 schools beginning Q1 2025 and 20 schools in Q2 2025. The size of the prize in the US School Meals program is approximately $4.5 in food waste reduction per year. We are seeking $1mn in a seed round to fund product development for the $25bn US school meals program and for broader application in the larger commercial food service industry.
