Ovulus Data is a tech startup developing wearable technology to improve the success rate of artificial insemination in hogs — and eventually other livestock — by detecting the optimal breeding window.

Our proprietary sensors attach to the sow and monitor key biometric changes, alerting farm technicians at the ideal time to inseminate. Early testing indicates the potential to increase success rates by around 5%, which can translate into significant production gains for farmers while reducing operating costs through automation.

We hold a provisional patent on our sensors and have completed three rounds of testing, proving that estrus can be detected via core temperature changes. Our work is conducted in cooperation with a leading university swine research program, and our heat flux and blood perfusion technology is at the forefront of the industry.
