In the world of critical mission power, multiple backup power systems are utilized. These include the use of Direct Current (DC) power supplies in the telecommunications, broadband and utility markets. These systems vary in DC voltage from 12V, 24V, 48V, 125V to 250 VDC. In the world of Data, these systems involve large Uninterruptable Power Systems where AC power is converted to DC power and then inverted back to AC power. These systems get rather large and employ multiple parallel blocks scalable up towards 50 Megawatt. All of these topologies utilize batteries at their core. These can be lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, lithium metal hydride as well as some more esoteric varieties.
We have been working in this field for 30 years plus designing, selling and most importantly, installing these systems and every possible combination.
This is our plan to continue the pursuit of providing critical power solutions to those in need.
I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Omni Power LLC shall be formed as a Limited Liabilities Company under Delaware State Laws and regulations and be headed by James Cahill.
Sales and Operational aspects will be spearheaded by Thomas Joyce.
James Cahill has proven himself in both the AC and DC Power markets working on installation of UPS mission critical systems, Telecommunications (Central Office and Wireless) and the Switchgear Utility market places for all the larger utilities and the Mid-Atlantic area. Mr. Cahill holds Telcordia Level 4 certification in the installation and implementation of sophisticated DC equipment and secondary / tertiary DC power networking. He has been working in the field for 30 + years with a high level of experience
Tom Joyce started at C&D Technologies corporate in Plymouth Meeting, PA in 1980 spending 5 years in lead acid battery technology R&D and 5 additional years on the charging technology designing charger controls and testing. Mr. Joyce worked in EF&I sales until 2000 with PEP and Cactus Comm. Group until he founded and ran Power Ingenuity LLC an EF&I Power Group until 2014. He then worked with Alpha Technologies until recently running the Northeast US region.
II. BUSINESS MISSION
Our focus in this endeavor is to bring the utmost quality, reliability and cost effectiveness back into the field of critical mission power projects. Using our existing customer base built up after providing quality work for three decades, we aim to grow quickly providing the Fortune 100 companies with much needed services for their 5G rollouts presently hindered by the COVID pandemic.
In addition, we plan to leverage some of our smaller companies and provide sub-contracting work in the Eastern US where they do not have such a strong presence.
In the US alone the backup and critical power services market is a multibillion dollar bucket. The Telecoms are scurrying to get their 5G installed, up running and tested. Industries such as Banking, Hospitals and maybe most importantly, Data Centers are spending tremendous amounts of money to try and stay ahead of failures. Tens of thousands of large batteries are being replaced annually. The DC Power Electronics market is a constantly evolving technology driven monster that generally gets replaced every ten years. We have never seen so much demand.
III. BUSINESS GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
1) Short Term: Get business up and running, build tooling, personnel (initially (2) crews of Level 4 technicians) get trucks and set up infrastructure. We will simultaneously be getting the word out to our customer base (who have already been prepped on our intentions). Get our first jobs on the books and execute flawlessly thereby getting the cash flow train fed.
2) Long Term: After we hit the ground running, get more equipment, truck(s) and another crew as the business is growing, stay in front of the curve and do not hire until ready.
IV. REVENUE OVERVIEW
Our revenue streams will be driven four ways:
1) System design and installation of customer purchased equipment. (e.g. Verizon Wireless)
2) Installation work for large Contractors (e.g. Conley Equipment Company).
3) Partnerships with large OEMs to provide the service part on inside sales. (C&D, Alpha, East Penn, Gus Berthold Electric and many others)
4) Providing Preventive Maintenance Plans for all we sell to.
V. TARGET MARKETS / CUSTOMERS
1) Continue business relationships with Elite Technologies and provide them with support for VZNW in the Carolinas and Tennessee markets. As starting in Q4 2020 through Q4 2022 they have roughly 5,500 wireless building to upgrade with new equipment. Each individual build has a value of $3,500 sale price. We have started the job under different auspices but they pushed back work due to COVID to Q4.There will be an entirely added phase after these initial deployment are completed.
2) Continue business with Conley Equipment on their existing work with Apple, JPMorgan Chase, Equinix, Level3, CenturyLink, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. We have done $ 800K with them in roughly 8 months under different auspices.
3) Leverage Tom Joyce’s list of customers from years of relationships build up over getting them reliable product installations and on time deliverables.
4) Go back to Comcast’s Broadband Group where we built the market to over $ 6M in three years using the same people now who helped get us there at Alpha.
VI. COMPETITION
There are some players out there now such as GE / ABB (old Emerson Lineage), 360 Critical, Sure Power and others. We intend to stay lean and keep costs down. Balancing price with anunsurpassed quality will give us an edge and word of mouth will aid in our rapid growth. We know how to price effectively with good margins and win jobs without gouging which will provide existing and new customers a desire to stay with us and earn all their work.
VII. RETENTION OF EMPLOYEES
1) We plan on paying our lifeblood (the field technicians) competitively and bring into their package some incentive to want to work and stay reliable. This can include some year-end profit sharing based upon ultimate profitability and net margins. These skilled craftsmen are hard to find, luckily we know them, have worked with them and they are interested in an employer that truly cares for them.
VIII. FINANCIALS
1) We are looking for some seed money from a person or entity who is looking to share handsomely on our cooperative future. In return, we are offering a percentage of equity yet to be determined but certainly negotiable.
2) Initial requirements are in the $250,000 range but returns should be readily forthcoming.
3) Initial funding will outfit (2) crews with specialized tooling, trucks, several computers required for data collection, complex system interfacing and system startup / programming. In addition, it will pay for required specialized insurances and short term payroll until work is secured. Initially in the interest of frugality, we will run the business from home and utilize a rented storage unit eventually growing into a lease / purchase plan of a building up to 4,000 SF.
4) We expect new work very quickly with several six-figure jobs already in the pipeline.
5) First year projections are gross revenues of $ 2.0M with an annual growth rate of 40% per annum. We will need to add more manpower, tooling and essentials to attain this goal.
6) These projections are conservative and only include several key customers. As we get the word out by executing with quality deliverables this will snowball in an exciting way.
