Olympus Learning Academy (OLA) is an innovative microschool designed for students who need a more personalized, structured, and engaging alternative to traditional education. We serve learners who are disengaged, struggling, or underserved in conventional school settings by providing a mastery-based, student-centered learning environment.
Our model combines project-based learning, individualized instruction, and character development to ensure students progress based on demonstrated understanding rather than seat time. Through our Olympus Journey framework—Seeker, Explorer, Pathfinder, Champion, and Legend—students build both academic mastery and essential life skills such as leadership, resilience, and self-direction.
Students earn Olympian badges (Athena, Apollo, Hermes, Hephaestus, Artemis, Ares, and Poseidon) that represent growth across key domains including critical thinking, creativity, communication, engineering, focus, perseverance, and emotional strength. Learning is documented through student portfolios that showcase real-world projects, presentations, and reflections.
OLA operates as a small, relationship-driven learning community, allowing for personalized support, strong mentorship, and effective accommodations for students with diverse needs, including IEPs and 504 plans. We partner closely with families to ensure transparency, consistent progress monitoring, and alignment with each student’s goals.
Founded by an educator with 30 years of experience—including certifications in elementary education, secondary science, special education, and English language learning, as well as credentials as a principal and master reading teacher—OLA is built on proven instructional practices and a deep understanding of how students learn best.
