Northern Nursing Solutions (NNS) is an Indigenous Owned and operated, woman-led travel nursing agency with assignments from coast to coast. We uniquely understand what indigenous reconciliation means from a woman-led and indigenous-owned business. Our CEO and founder Michelle started NNS in 2017, intending to bridge the gaps in indigenous healthcare by providing culturally safe and aware staff for each travel assignment and various medical professions. Michelle has been in the healthcare field for ten years, six of which were as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Michelle's specialty is in Travel Nursing, which she still does today to contribute to NNS. Our COO and co-owner joined the team in 2022 as a 50% shareholder of NNS. She has over ten years in the healthcare field and came on with management experience as the Associate Director of Care in Southern Okanagan. Both of the owners are indigenous and have the dream of bridging the gaps in Indigenous healthcare. NNS has a small team of three admin staff. Our Manager of Operations, Erin, has a degree in Human Resources and has years of experience in management, from economic development in Nova Scotia to running a daycare in Alberta. Erin joined the team in the fall of 2021 and has been an asset to NNS since. Our Human Resources Director is Rhona, of indigenous descent and has years of experience as an HR Officer in Selkirk First Nations. Both managers bring extensive knowledge to the NNS team. Our part-time recruiter Kayleigh also has a background as a nurse and helps the Manager of Operations get nurses onboarded and bids into sites. She handles all our recruitment postings and keeps things fun. The NNS team is small but mighty, and we welcome any investor who wants to complement our team as we grow.
Now that you know who we are, here is what we do. Northern Nursing Solutions offer healthcare staffing to clients across British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia. We aim to meet their staffing needs and create long-term relationships and ongoing services. We work with facilities within health authorities such as PHSA, FNHA, NHA, AHS, and private facilities such as The Hamlets and Good Samaritan Society within Canada. Our services aim to provide nurses to understaffed facilities that need relief. NNS is run by two nurses who have years of experience in the healthcare field. We have over 300 nurses on our roster and have 15-30 nurses out on assignment per week.
Northern Nursing Solutions has rapidly expanded over the past two years and requires Capital Funding for operations expenses as we grow.  NNS requires $175k for operating expenses which will be put toward AP and operating costs. NNS profits from nurses being out on assignments; the more we can get out, the more we profit. Focusing on recruitment is our goal this year. We have major projects on the go for the next two years. If you want to be a part of reconciliation and indigenous growth, know that healthcare is a sustainable industry, and statistics show nursing staff will always be needed. Be a part of a unique, woman-led and indigenous-owned company that wants to impact the healthcare industry and indigenous health outcomes.
