BlancNoir Coffeeshop & Lounge Concept

The Coffee House and Speakeasy style bar are totally opposite concepts, which are reflected in the name. Bright coffee, beer and wine bar (Blanc) will put an emphasis on the light and airy elements, while the bar will focus on the dimmer, more intimate interactions of a casual bar experience. Our concepts will target patrons of all ages from their early morning needs to the late-night crowd. Both entities will be under the same roof, separated by a shared kitchen and bathrooms. Houston’s East End offers three nearby sports stadiums, a growing middle to high-income pool of young professionals and families, as well as a nearby thriving convention center and recreational city- funded park area. This area is extremely successful to bars, food service and entertainment businesses. The opportunity is ripe due to proposed I-69 expansion that will force four direct competitors to close their doors.

The Blanc Coffee House will feature high-end coffee, juices and pastries, with additional weekend brunch options; there will be a few savory selections from your everyday morning waffle connoisseur to pressed juice options and plenty of options for our health- conscious patrons. This will be a minimal rotating menu for quick in and out service. With an open design and ample seating, customers can receive in- and-out service or hunker down with their laptops to get some work done with fast Wi-Fi and relaxed setting. The shared patio will also offer additional seating options for patrons who enjoy dining outdoors.

The bar atmosphere will be a unique blend of two worlds. Seamlessly integrating a speakeasy style bar with a boutique hotel motif for a unique atmosphere not currently available in Houston. It will feature elements that pay homage to the rich sports history and overall culture Houston has to offer. Our menu will consist of wood-fired pizza, an assortment of charcuterie, cheese, and olive combinations and tapas style dishes that make it an inviting atmosphere for friends to gather and enjoy themselves. With this unique space we will take advantage of the opportunity to collaborate with pop-up kitchens and offer our guests a different custom chef’s table dining experience each month.

The Covid-19 pandemic has created a unique opportunity for Blanc Noir to be a success. Many businesses, especially establishments that primarily focus on liquor sales, are closing their doors due to failure of an adaptive business model. Navigating local government ordinances and shut downs has become imperative in the success of these types of establishments. Our business model will have a focus on dealing with the conditions of post-Covid society and be successful. Our approach will place an emphasis on a plush outdoor experience along with indoor seating that will follow social distancing practices to make our patrons feel safe at all times. In addition to this we will implement local delivery of beer and wine, strong food program and baked goods. This allows us to keep our doors open at all times.

Ownership Roles, Experience & Expertise Owner/Operator: Nicholas Ozuna
Mr. Ozuna will act as directive lead for Noir Hospitality Management, LLC. regarding build out, licensing, permitting, concept design and daily operations. Mr. Ozuna has successfully opened and operated multiple various bars and restaurants with exquisite cuisine, wine, cocktails, and specialty coffee. Driven by customer relations, Mr. Ozuna has established himself as staple in the hospitality and entertainment industry for more than 20 years. He has played a pivotal role in the build out, design, and operations of many well-known Houston establishments such as The Whiskey, BAR 5015, Down the Street, Around the Corner and most recently Trez Art & Wine Bar just to name a few. A knack for creativity and innovation, Mr. Ozuna has created award winning beverage and food programs and implemented top notch hospitality training programs. A natural leader, Mr. Ozuna is passionate about transferring his knowledge and skills to ensure businesses are successful by meeting sales goals along with a positive work culture.

Owner/Investment Coordinator: Ulysses Grant, IV
Ulysses' contributions to the business involve Investor Relations/fundraising in addition to acting as treasurer. Please find his bio and experience below:
Ulysses Grant, IV is currently a DevOps Engineer at FinTech unicorn, AvidXchange, and previously employed by Chevron leading multiple major capital infrastructure projects globally. With several years of experience in the Supply and Trading sector for Fortune 100 companies, Ulysses has the ability to develop technology to leverage investments and reliably forecast future earnings ensuring profitability. Thinking “outside of the box”, accurate forecasting, efficient project management, and paying meticulous attention to detail have proven to be instrumental in Ulysses receiving a multitude of innovation awards from C-level executives throughout the organization. Ulysses obtained a B.S. from the University of Arkansas and M.S. from Virginia Tech. Also, as a foodie and sports enthusiast, in his spare time enjoys traveling globally to experience new cultures, reading, and mentoring early-career professionals and students.

Owner/Marketing Manager: William Felix III
William will handle all the marketing and business planning for the group in addition to investor fund raising.

William Felix III, MBA, began his career in 2009 at Shell Oil in the Shell Trading organization. William has held numerous roles within Shell over the last ten years, including Marketing Strategy, Project Management, Key Accounts, and Aviation. Currently serving as the Americas Commercial Manager, Will is responsible for Sales in North, South, and Central America.
William is also the founder and owner of Overtime Sports Management Group, LLC & WillPower Sports Marketing, LLC. Overtime Sports Management Group has negotiated over $100M in contracts and product endorsement deals since launching the business in 2010. Overtime Sports Management Group currently has over 12 clients on NFL rosters. William has experience working directly with the Houston Rockets organization to market and brand their players while leveraging his global partnerships.
Prior to both joining Shell and starting his own firms, William held a role as a Marketing Manager at Fortune 500 company, Cox Communications while finishing up his MBA. William attended the University of Louisiana – Lafayette where he ran track and played football. William has a BS of Psychology from the University of Louisiana - Lafayette and an MBA from Southern University – Baton Rouge. William is married with one son and resides in Houston, TX. In his personal time, William enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, traveling, and watching sports.

Owner/Real Estate Manager: Ishme Allah
Ishme was added as a partner to this project due to his 10+ years of experience as a Realtor handling real estate negotiations, especially commercial leases.
The current owner of Creative Realty & Development that seeks out land development opportunities to connect available land parcels with end use developers. Ishme also has 7+ years of management experience with one of America’s largest retailers, Walgreens Co., which will help with the daily operation of the business including hiring, training and onboarding of new employees where necessary. However, his primary function will be to represent the group in all lease or purchase agreements, coordinate construction execution while managing the needs of all parties involved in the build out and finishes of the space.
