After working as a registered nurse in home health for over 13 years now, I've seen so many problems with community health and how we are not doing a great job of prevention at all. We just treat people when sick and send home with some medications and hope the band aid fix sustains. Well, patients are going home more confused then ever about their care and taking medications just because and not understanding the why and what to look for as far as...is it working, why am I taking, should I take this new medication because my PCP or heart doctor never prescribed it. Here's where I come in, my biggest thing is patient advocacy driven by prevention health. I want to be the help for patients when they are back home, education/hospital readmission prevention, but most of all let's fix the problem and look at the why behind it. How do we live at home safely, home safety evaluation. With congress making so many cuts to funding for home health and so many home health agencies struggling to survive, our senior population still needs help. Yes, this is an out of pocket service, but it so important especially if people want to remain at home. If I need to refer patients to home health service, then that's part of what I do. I also take the stress off of children of the aging parents especially when they don't live in the same state. I also teach and educate on how we need to prepare to take care of mom/dad, grandma/grandpa before they get to that point where they need help and the kids don't know what to do. I believe so much in what I've seen out there and believe this could start and make a big difference in our healthcare system. I have a heart and a passion to provide what I have learned over the years through experience to others. I have an LLC started called Neighborhood Nurse, but I am needing funding for marketing and getting the word out there. If you can help, I would love to talk to you. Thank you for your consideration -Eddie DiPrimio
