Most overhead garage doors in North America are equipped with a single-beam infrared safety sensor. The conventional safety sensor can only sense obstacles that are blocking a line about 6” from the floor. Hence, most of the garage-door opening is not protected by a conventional safety sensor, leading to bodily injuries, injured pets, and damaged cars. Over 10,000 injuries requiring ER visits occur annually in the USA, as a result of accidents relating to garage doors. The estimated annual repair costs for damaged cars and garage doors is $1B.
The Infinity Shield sensor solves this safety problem by utilizing 25 infrared beams to obtain full coverage of the whole garage-door opening. Infinity Shield is easy to install utilizing snap-in brackets and existing wiring and is compatible with almost all garage-door openers.
One of the founders of M&R Technology, Inc. damaged his minivan hatch when accidentally closing his garage door while the hatch was open—this was the start of Infinity Shield. He recruited a team consisting of the best people that he had worked with throughout his career and set off to design the perfect garage-door sensor. It turned out to be a challenging problem that the existing players had not been able to solve, but our team succeeded!
We have built 500 units and sold out the inventory on our e-commerce platform and Amazon store. Our customers love the product, and it has a 5-star average review rating. We have raised $362k of seed funding and recruited some of the best people in the industry.
We plan to raise $1M to transition sales and marketing personnel to full-time positions and scale production to 5000 units in 2024, followed by an increase to 50,000 units in 2025, and 500,000 units in 2026. Over the next five years, we plan to disrupt the garage-door sensor market and make Infinity Shield the new safety standard in north America.
We are looking for investor partners to help us scale the company and disrupt the 16 billion market for garage-door sensors. We have a very strong IP portfolio and the incumbents in the industry have not innovated much in the past few decades. Therefore, we believe that we can obtain a large market share rather quickly and provide a great return on money invested at this early stage.
