Want more out of your vacation stay? Canoe from your cabin into the expanse of the BWCA, or have a boat to get you to your island cabin getaway, etc. we are looking for properties and eventually resorts that are more than just a home for you to stay in for a week or two.
After COVID, people are venturing out even more. Especially in MN, a lot of people love the outdoors, and while for some, just time away in a new place is nice for a vacation, some people want more. We want to start something so we can offer people that little bit more. Maybe part of the family just wants to hang on the beach and swim while the other part wants more of an adventure, this could be the perfect solution.
While outfitters and guides could offer some of the same things, for someone with a little experience that wants a little more freedom than those places offer, this could be the right fit. Unlike those other places, with this, you always would have a home base to come back to without having to go to far unless you choose.
My husband and I have experience in successful investment/flip properties in the past. With extensive real estate, handyman/construction type backgrounds, we would love to turn this into a family venture to pass on to our kids. The basic concept is to own multiple vacation rental properties such as VRBO's, we are hoping to have a lot of these come with the option for an experience if people want it. We would also provide some of the essentials for people to enjoy these things. Ex. having a cabin on a lake that is attached to the BWCA is itself an experience, but we would like to offer canoes, and other equipment so people can get there to enjoy it. For a cabin on prime hunting land, we would provide some equipt. (stands/blinds, etc...).
While this is still a start up and nothing has been set in place yet, we have been searching for the perfect properties to be able to offer these things to the people that choose to stay. With the way that the market and interest rates are going, it isn't feasible nor profitable right now to get mortgages for any of these properties, especially since we would be needing to get all of the extra items needed to make this the experience we hope it can be for people. As mentioned before, we have experience in real estate, both from flipping homes in the past and also as a realtor, and this helps to make good buying decisions. With our knowledge and skill sets in business, hospitality, construction and trades, we would be able to manage these properties as well.
To start: We would like to start out with the one or two properties that we have found so far that could be worth this effort. Eventually we would like to expand to include more properties around the areas we found. One of these properties already has a company in place to help with maintenance, advertising and rental management. In 3-5 years time, we would like to expand to include at least one full resort, and possibly to expand to individual properties in other states as well, as we have traveled as a family, we have found many amazing places that have a lot to offer if you are willing to look. We would like to find properties elsewhere to be able to offer others the chance to explore more of this great country as well!
