We are a small tour boat co. in northern VT. We need working capital for the upcoming season  to hire a Director of Operations, haul out the boat with a crane for a 5 year required Coast Guard inspection, and to upgrade some much needed equipment and carpeting.  The boat called the Northern Star is a 65 foot, 49 passenger cruise boat located on Lake Memphremagog. In Newport Vermont.  The boat is 22 years old this year. We offer scenic, private, dinner, brunch and cruises into Canada.  This will be our 4th cruising season.  We also use it as a Floating Classroom and bring out elementary school students throughout our county to teach them about the ecology and history around the lake.   We are connected to the Rubenstein School for the Environment  at the University of Vermont. Our cruising season runs 20 weeks from Memorial Weekend through October our foliage season.
Our Canadian Cruise is a 4 hour cruise that goes approx. 12 miles into Canada.  It goes to where  the St. Benoit Monastery  is then we return.  We are allowed to go onto Canada and back without needing to check in with Customs either way as long as we do not stop and disembark.  This trip has gotten very popular and is the only one like it in New England.
We are in need of a new 30KW generator, est. cost $9,000, new carpeting $6,500. our Director, $65,000 , haul out est. $16,000, and electronics upgrade of est. $20,000.  Part of the directors salary can be covered by operating revenue once we get started.  We operate as a board of Directors and have 2 attorneys, a collage professor at Auburn University, retired teacher, and several businessmen.  We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  Please consider this request as we will not be able to sail without the generator and CG inspection.
Sincerely, David Converse, Chair MCM
