Raising $100k to build the future of manufacturing in space

Within the emerging private space industry, countless innovative and investment opportunities present themselves. It is our belief that the young in-space manufacturing industry will pave the way for future space based companies.

Martian Industries is a new additive manufacturing startup, focused on developing innovative solutions to problems facing current and future astronauts, space tourists, and colonists.

Our first product will be a revolutionary new approach to metal manufacturing. Traditional methods for metal additive manufacturing can be divided into 2 major categories:
• Melting
•Sintering

Metal 3d printing through melting processes can easily be used in a microgravity environment, however the end product will suffer from multiple weak points within the printed components, due to the layering build process. As well as produce toxic fumes during the melting process.

Meanwhile, using a sintering process to 3d print metal requires the use of powdered metal. Which in a microgravity environment, would float freely in the build chamber, making a print impossible.

We at Martian Industries have 2 solutions to metal manufacturing in space. The first is our patent pending Particulate Strip. This patent outlines the use of a binding agent to form the powdered metal into a spooled strip. Allowing us to utilize the benefits of metal sintering in a microgravity environment.

Our second solution is currently in the patenting process, and is set to disrupt metal manufacturing both in space as well as here on earth. Through a fresh new approach to metal manufacturing. Martian Industries will be able to provide the fastest, strongest, and cheapest metal 3d printer this side of the solar system.

Following the development of our metal manufacturing system, we will be developing a suite of products targeting multiple issues surrounding manned spaceflight. Our clothing manufacturing & recycling system, is the next product set for development. Our clothing manufacturing & recycling system will provide an affordable, sustainable clothing solution to one of the lesser known issues regarding spaceflight. With water being an extremely valuable resource in space, washing machines are not worth the cost. However, with a minimum of 2 hour workouts daily astronauts fly through clothing at orbital speeds. NASA & any space agency sending manned missions into space will pay upwards of $1.5 million per astronaut, per year, on clothing alone.

Our solution to NASA's "dirty laundry" issues is through our unique materials technology. Utilizing simulated fiber technology, our clothing printers are capable of printing fully customized articles of clothing. Recyclable, reusable, anti-microbial clothing to ensure any spaceflight is met with clean comfortable clothes. This system also allows us to cut the cost of clothing per astronaut, per year, from $1.5 million down to just $150k.

Since our startup is so new, our entire focus is on the development of our in-space metal 3d printer.

Our Team:

• Robert Hillan, is the Founder, CEO, & CTO. During his Senior Year in high school in 2015, Robert entered and won an engineering design competition hosted by NASA. Becoming the first student in history, to have their design built in space. Following this, Robert studied Aerospace Engineering & business management prior to dropping out and founding Martian Industries.

•Jonathan Stilwell, is our Co-Founder, COO, & CFO. After competing in a national rocketry contest Jonathan began studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where he and Robert met.  Prior to founding Martian Industries with Robert, Jonathan completed his associates in business management.

Our Customers:
Martian Industries will be developing advanced additive manufacturing technologies for use in space. Making our primary customers both government and private space agencies. Through our personal network, we will be approaching NASA as well as SpaceX as potential customers for our vital deep space technology.

The Commercial market for metal 3d printing is also a growing industry. With ample opportunity to sell commercial versions of our metal printers at both a consumer as well as industrial level. With unprecedented capability, our metal manufacturing system will distance us from any competition.

Our Budget:

$100,000 is a large sum of capital for a new startup, and we believe that total transparency is key to great investor relations. Here is a brief breakdown of how the funds would be utilized.

•$3,000 - Provisional Patent Application costs
•$25,000 - Material costs for construction of a flight ready prototype
•$2,000 - Metal resources for use as inventory
•$10,000 - Initial marketing budget
•$60,000 - Founder Salaries, are set to be no more than $30k a year equivalent per Founder.

After raising the needed capital, our team will focus on generating revenue, through product pre-orders as well as potential contracts through NASA & SpaceX to further develop our technology.

We are highly confident in our ability to achieve a NASA contract. This is a big claim, however it is also supported by the necessity of our technology. Whether it's the millions in savings, or the capability to print potentially life saving components in deep space. Our printing technologies will provide customers with capabilities too great to ignore.
