HSF America Connection Hub & Future Skills Hub is a Global Initiative Program of Congolese Integration Network, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to building pathways of opportunity for African refugees, immigrants, youth, and underserved communities. The initiative is implemented locally in Bukavu, South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, in partnership with Hengwa Star’s Foundation, a Congolese nonprofit organization in good standing under DRC law with F-92 status.
The Hub is a community-based education, innovation, workforce development, and international partnership center created to connect underserved communities in Eastern DRC with global opportunities. Its integrated model combines future-ready education with entrepreneurship, nutrition, community health, ethical leadership, and locally driven development.
Programs include English-language instruction, computer literacy, artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, digital skills, entrepreneurship, leadership development, media and creative technologies, career readiness, and guidance toward international education opportunities. These programs equip young people and adults with practical skills that can support employment, enterprise creation, academic advancement, and participation in the digital economy.
The Hub also develops community-based initiatives that strengthen resilience and economic opportunity. Its bakery and nutrition program supports child development, meals, vocational training, food production, and social-enterprise opportunities. Community health education, maternal support, psychosocial wellbeing, leadership formation, and peacebuilding activities complement the education and technology programs.
The center serves as a trusted landing and coordination platform for universities, educators, researchers, churches, humanitarian organizations, volunteers, and international partners operating in Eastern DRC. Services include interpretation, cultural orientation, local coordination, field guidance, logistics support, and responsible community engagement.
Congolese Integration Network provides institutional oversight, international partnership development, financial administration, compliance support, monitoring, and donor reporting. Local program implementation is managed through HSF in accordance with Congolese law and formal institutional agreements.
The long-term objective is to establish Bukavu as a regional center for learning, innovation, workforce preparation, nutrition, and international collaboration, then adapt the model across the Democratic Republic of Congo’s 145 territories through physical hubs, satellite partnerships, mobile training, and digital delivery.
