I started this company in July 2020, with a website launch August 1st. I play disc golf, and have purchased many discs online, but never loved the experience. It always felt cold. I decided I'd like to do it better. So far, I have approximately $35000 invested in inventory and supplies. I run everything out of my property, so have been able to eliminate overhead costs.
Since launching the site in August, I have had over $7000 in sales. My two main competitors are OTBdiscs(California) and Infinite Discs(Utah). Their operations really control pricing, as they are able to sell at minimum advertised price and rely on volume for profit.
This money will be used for website design and stock buildup. As we move into the winter months, there will be a decline in sales, but this is an opportunity to build up stock for spring. Disc golf has seen rapid expansion during COVID, and the main hurdle as a retailer is the availability of stock. I'm hoping the winter season will be time to build up inventory and infrastructure for a successful year next year. I will also be running online advertising campaigns and hosting tournaments to build my brand and name.
My goal is to be the number one disc golf supplier in the U.S.
