I am seeking $100,000 to $150,000 for a "start-up" with: 1) initial product engineering and production funded by the owner, 2) already engaging with initial sales prospects, and 3) virtually $0 monthly burn. Manufacturing, warehousing and logistics functions with a third-party contract manufacturer have been arranged and await initial production orders. Now it is time to add staff and take to market. A lean, efficient organization will be the goal.
COVID-19 has shown how ill-prepared the world is for facing serious infections. UV disinfection technology has been in wide usage for decades, but has never advanced past being just a dumb UV lamp. There is no real-time solution on the market to monitor and control UV lamps. Currently, facility managers/owners simply change lamps periodically...or not at all. They cannot see UV energy and only see blue visible light. When the UV energy of lamps degrades, they are no longer effectively destroying bacteria and viruses. HiTech UVC (HTUVC) sanitizing products and its UVoT (UV of Things) patent pending, wireless system is a game changer.
Our UVoT sensor and control system can automatically boost UV energy when it falls below the level needed to effectively disinfect air. This boost greatly extends the UV lamp's useful lifetimes, delays lamp maintenance cycles from months to years, assures that a building’s air is continuously being disinfected, and can be activated should a pathogen need additional UV energy to destroy. Complete with synchronized WiFi touchscreen, smartphone and/or web control panel, the system can manage one or many units remotely.
Since our sanitizing products utilize the UVoT technology, they are in a class by themselves. Also, since UVoT has web services associated with it, there is a tremendous opportunity for recurring revenue well beyond the initial sale. UVoT may also be made available to other UV product companies on an OEM basis to enhance their systems and afford HTUVC many more recurring revenue opportunities. A verbal agreement is already in place with one such manufacturer. Wider, faster deployment via OEM channels will build a stronger brand and become an industry standard.
The pending patent application includes several other applications for development using the UVoT platform. Perhaps the most significant would be a new application to be used by hospitals, hotels and other institutions to confirm in real-time that UVC surface disinfection in rooms is being effectively performed by staff or contractors. It would also provide insight as to whether the UVC unit is performing properly, is positioned correctly in the room or needs service. Current products treat rooms, but there is no real-time dosing (killing efficacy) data collected and acted upon. If the treatment is below required mJ/cm2 levels, UVoT can provide immediate notification to the UV system operator or management.
Management can remotely manage and autonomously transmit updated dosing levels to each or all rooms any time prior treatment. An on-line database of pathogens, and their respective lethal dose levels, are easily transmitted where and when needed. Development of this application will only require modest modifications to the existing software/hardware, and will begin as revenue and/or funding allows.
