We are dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate virtual psychotherapy, fostering a safe and empathetic space for diverse individuals. Guided by principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism, we strive to dismantle systemic inequalities in the mental health field. Our team is committed to accessibility and effectiveness. Our goal is to be a source of hope—where individuals find solace, understanding, and the resources they need for meaningful healing and personal growth.

At Healing Our Parts, we are driven by a profound recognition of the disparities in mental health care and a commitment to fostering inclusive, empathetic, and effective virtual psychotherapy. Founded as a minority-run practice, our origin stems from personal experiences navigating systemic barriers and overcoming various challenges, including substance use issues and mental illness. These experiences have shaped our understanding of the urgent need for equitable access to quality mental health support.

Our mission is clear: to facilitate holistic healing and empower individuals on their journey to authentic wholeness while actively dismantling systemic inequalities within the mental health field. We believe that true healing begins with feeling heard, seen, and understood, and we are dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate therapy tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Guided by principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism, our team reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We understand the importance of representation and validation in the therapeutic process, and we strive to create a safe and empathetic space for clients from all backgrounds.

As a minority-run psychotherapy practice, each member of our team brings a unique perspective shaped by their own struggles, whether related to being a minority, experiencing substance use issues, or battling mental illness. These diverse experiences have not only shaped us as individuals but have also informed our approach to therapy and our dedication to serving those who are underserved.

Accessibility is central to our approach. Through virtual platforms, we transcend financial, geographical, and cultural barriers, ensuring our services are accessible to all who need them. Our goal is to provide effective therapy and advocate for systemic change that promotes equity and justice for marginalized communities.

Ultimately, we aspire to be a beacon of hope—a sanctuary where individuals find solace, understanding, and the resources they need for meaningful healing and personal growth. By fostering resilience and empowerment in our clients, we aim to create a world where mental health care is truly accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance.

In 1998, when I embarked on my journey in social work school, I was filled with youthful idealism, fueled by a burning desire to enact change in the world. Advocacy, activism, and the pursuit of social justice were my guiding lights. Having experienced firsthand the challenges of being physically disabled due to a Traumatic Brain Injury at just 18 months old, I understood from an early age what it meant to be different in society. This ignited a fiery determination within me, propelling me towards a career in activism where I believed I could make a difference.

While my initial aspirations didn't involve becoming a psychotherapist, I discovered my aptitude for counseling along the way. It became apparent that effecting change, both on a large scale and in individual lives, was possible through empathy, understanding, and compassion.
Throughout my postgraduate career, I dedicated myself to serving the most marginalized communities, believing fervently in the potential for positive transformation. Despite never intending to specialize in psychotherapy, I found myself drawn to it, particularly in the realms of Gestalt therapy, focusing on anger management and borderline personality
disorder. This journey led me to share my expertise at conferences around the world, from Sicily to Toronto.
However, the landscape shifted dramatically in March 2020 when the world grappled with the onset of the pandemic. As isolation and quarantine became the norm, mental health struggles intensified, exacerbating issues such as domestic violence, depression, and suicide. Simultaneously, global tragedies, exemplified by the deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, forced society to confront deep-seated inequities.
These events reignited my passion for activism, prompting me to envision a future where a group practice led by minorities could provide much-needed support to those in greatest need. This endeavor would not only address immediate challenges but also nurture the next generation of clinicians, empowering them to lead with compassion and equity.

We envision a world where everyone, regardless of their background or personal challenges, can access effective and compassionate mental health care. We are committed to creating an environment where individuals can heal, grow, and thrive on their path to authentic wholeness. Our vision is built upon the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism, and we aim to be a beacon of hope for those seeking guidance and support.
