Harshman Products is a surgical products company developed under the Mayo Clinic Ventures umbrella. I have an entire portfolio of surgical innovations that are property of the Mayo Clinic Foundation, but available to me. After 10 years as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman, I began working as a surgical scrub/assistant in the O.R.’s of the Mayo Clinic. Now, after 40+ years of my career in the operating room, I have seen, and been a part of, major changes over the years I have worked there. I am also an innovator. Mayo Clinic fosters innovation and began a program for employees that had NOVEL ideas that were promising. The program is called the (EEP) Employee Entrepreneurship Program and it was developed to give the Mayo innovator a chance to bring their product to fruition. I signed a contractual agreement that would assigned the rights to the patent over to me and allow my company to get this product into the market. My surgical innovations will revolutionize certain areas of the surgical environment. Now that my newly designed vaginal retractor is Patented, it’s time for me/us to sell it, Globally. I have a product, a patent and the passion to make a change.
I have built a small team that is dedicated to the mission of Harshman Products. The mission to implement positive innovative changes within the surgical setting. I am still building my team and would like to offer partnership to assist me and my company to move my many innovations forward. My Phelps Posterior Retractor has numerous advantages over the present weighted vaginal retractor, which is presently sold and used around the world and has been in use for over 170 years with little to NO design improvements. The time to make this change is NOW! My goal is to REPLACE this archaic design with my updated design that will give the surgeon OPTIONS that they just do NOT have today.
