Great State Alabama endeavors to support, advocate and drive improvement in the lives of the most vulnerable and marginalized men, women and children. With a focus on the state of Alabama, our 501(c)3 public charity aims to create partnerships and programs whereby these Alabamians may receive quality healthcare at no cost, especially in the state’s medically underserved areas.
To bring health care to those who have limited access to it, GSA is holding a series of Great State Rural Clinics, providing a range of completely free examinations, diagnoses and treatments. The first series of clinical offerings was skin cancer screenings followed by dermatology clinics. GSA plans to begin family medical clinics later this year as new doctor's join the team.
To be able to hold these clinics in small towns and communities in rural Alabama, our goal is to acquire a mobile medical unit. This unit will make our clinics self-contained, which will allow us to provide services in more communities. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, sanitizing exam rooms and common areas after each patient has become vital. This mobile medical unit will allow us to isolate our patients and ensure that we sufficiently clean all areas after each use.
These funds would be used to complete the purchase of the mobile medical unit from Mission Mobile Medical. This unit will be a 37 foot Class A recreational vehicle, converted to a two room mobile medical clinic with ADA accessibility. The unit is expected to be in service for up to one million miles. The funds may also support keeping the unit on the road through purchase of gasoline and supplies. Included in the cost of the mobile unit, Mission Mobile Medical provides a ten year warranty and three years of preventative maintenance and roadside assistance. The estimated total cost of the purchase is $312,550.
