FlipSockz was an idea that was born over 25 yrs ago while a friend and I were hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Never did we think it would be a product or business but here we are! I started this because there really is a need for a simple way to keep your feet happy and dry while doing outdoor activities of any kind. There’s an enormous world wide market with uses that span over several different activities at work and play!
The first edition of Flipsockz is good but not perfect. They don’t work on every boot but the people they work for love them! COVID made it very tough on testing, sourcing materials and navigating the supply chain. There are two redesigned versions almost ready to go. The first edition of Flipsockz has been selling for a little over a year with minimal advertising/marketing. An affiliate program was initiated this past year which includes 20 or so ambassadors nationwide, a number of them are quite impressive! Karts Huseonica, is a world record holding extreme adventurer and currently on his record setting Yukon River expedition. Karts is one of our biggest supporters. Others include many avid New England 4k foot peak hikers, Alaskan hiking guides, Montana mountain bikers, California base jumpers, and they’ve recently been used by the team from Trekking Ambassadors to help deliver solar lights and reading glasses to remote villages in the Mt Everest base camp region. Not to mention the popular hiking podcast @hikesandmics on Instagram who promotes us a lot, the horse farmers in Maine and PA, the cattle ranchers in TX and the tree and landscape workers all over the states!
We are mission driven, through sales of FlipSockz, my company Gratefuliving LLC donates a portion to help support veterans and others who struggle with suicide, addiction, homelessness etc. We have donated to the Home Base Program for Veterans, currently supporting a USAF vet hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and have also sponsored a peak for the MA/NH Alzheimer’s Assn 48 peaks initiative which hike to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s and dementia.
In this first year 400+ pairs of Flipsockz have been sold. I’m learning no one gets it right the first time and thank goodness we are still alive!
