I am looking to start a bakery to specialize in gluten-free products. I see an ever-increasing need for gluten-free products. I have both family and friends who rely on them. I have always enjoyed baking. I raised my children with home-baked bread. In my effort to try gluten-free, I have found that the ready-made flour mixtures do not make a good bread. I have created a gluten-free flour mixture and a recipe for gluten-free and dairy-free bread. I have given it to those who depend on gluten-free products to try. They have all given positive reviews, even those who have especially sensitive digestive systems.
I live in a small town outside Great Falls, MT. In this rural area, there are many wheat-based bakeries but none that specialize in Gluten-free. I intend to do just that. I will also have wheat-based products available to make it a friendly place for all. Because of this, it will require two baking areas, which is unusual for a bakery, but what I need. Wheat flours and gluten-free flours cannot mix to keep it authentic gluten-free.
I have found a local building that would make a good location. It needs to be remodeled to facilitate a bakery. I have had a contractor inspect the property to review its structural condition. He had a good review. The building also comes with potential for 5 rentals. Only 1 is occupied at this time because the current owner wishes it vacant for the sale. The rentals will help ensure the mortgage payment.
There are local health shops that willingly stock items from fellow entrepreneurs, where I will approach to include my bread. There is a local farmers' market where I can sell my baked goods in addition to my bakery. I have both a daughter and a daughter-in-law who want to assist me in this endeavor.
