We are a veteran owned generator company and Generac dealer located in central NC. All that we do is generators. Big and small. Over the last 3 years our company has changed from just being a one man operation to 8 employees and 5 vehicles on the road. Our revenue has grown in that time from $150,000 to just shy of $900,000 in 2022. When the company was started we only did generator service and repair on home standby generators and commercial standby generators. We did sale any generators or work on portable generators. I started the business by myself with a van, no plan, and no customers in January of 2016. I had never owned my own business and had no idea what I was doing, but I trusted God that I would make it. So for the next 3 years I built it one customer at at time. Since 2020, my oldest son came to work with me and with his sales background we started experimenting with selling generators. We sold 23 or so generators in 2021, and worked on the installation process and our team. In 2022 we sold just shy of 90 generators. In the first quarter of 2023, we have sold and installed 31 generators, putting us on pace for another year of growth. We have grown our service and repair business as well. Our service customers are yearly, not just a one off because generators need to be services once a year. Our services by year (from 2019 to through the first quarter of 2023): 2019-140/2020-263/2021-382/2022-574/2023 1st Qtr-234. Out goal is to his 800 this year.
Over the last 2 years we have invested heavily in our vehicles, our new logo, and of course advertising. But we try our best to keep it simple. Everyone except our office manager knows how to service and repair generators, as well as help with installations. We have have an excellent electrical contractor, as well as mechanical contractor. I am very confident that we have one of the best teams in the business. We are very family oriented. We give back to our church and our community regularly. I joke with our customers that we are just trying to make a living, not a killing.
As I said, we are a Generac Dealer, and we just hit the Elite level earlier this year, and hope to be Elite Plus by years end. We stock over $200,000 in generators and parts. We stock used parts as well for older generators with hard to find parts. Generac also produces backup batteries and systems for solar power. The batteries give Tesla batteries a run for their money. As the generators and solar back up systems continue to be integrated to work together, the natural progression of our business is to start working on and possibly installing those systems as well. Right now, from Burlington, we service from Salisbury and Winston in the west to Knightdale and Raleigh in the east, and from the SC line to the Virginia line in the middle of that. We do have a few customers in the Wilmington and Carolina Beach area. We would like to be able to service from Myrtle Beach, SC up to the Virginia Beach and Richmond, VA are as well.
But we know that you can outgrow your money and grow yourself out of business, so we keep our horse reigned in an focus on continue to build a strong foundation.
