Foundry Room Events ltd.

We are a multi level business with 9 years and now 2 wedding venue locations, a private school, a production company and a nightclub. 

Pre covid we had no debt and we started this company with zero dollars and now operating at 2 million a year however our past debt and our new school is needing funding and in order to prosper and grow we need assistance not only financially but a partner that will assist in the growth, marketing and fresh ideas for the company. We are a women owned business in Alberta which we have always been proud of and our goal when we started this company was to be a platform for other small or home based businesses to grow and excel. 

I am an interior designer by trade and after 10 years of running a construction company I moved into wedding venues, I designed them and did the built out, my ideas were new to edmonton as 9 years ago there were only hotel venues and community halls. The first locations I designed was an industrial venue and held 50 people after a year we had moved into a new location that I designed as vintage industrial holding 150 people we sold out 2 years in advance and built our next location as modern industrial, unfortunately when that location opened covid started and it sat empty for 18 months along with our first one. During covid we pivoted and built a smaller one similar to our first but chic industrial which was used for 50 people or smaller inline with covid restrictions and we did that for 2 years while our 2 larger spaces remained closed. Now that covid is done people no longer had use for small spaces as often so we turned it into a private night club the only one in edmonton, and opened back our larger downtown venue that has been operating almost 2 years fully again.  We ended up closing our  venue in fort Saskatchewan being that it was a small town and covid did a number on smaller cities it was not getting any traction. Now we have just built our 3rd venue downtown edmonton which opened last summer. It was rough to start because of supply chain delays but it is now selling out this year and 2025.

We currently have oex wedding venue, oex2 wedding venue, foundry on Whyte night club, and foundry studios which opened in winter a few months ago. We are currently averaging 100-150 inquiries for bookings each month. We bought out events rental company a couple years ago and now own all our own inventory for weddings and events, a cube van, a 15' trailer, sound equipment for 4 locations.

Foundry Studios is a historical building and has 2 parts, the main building we have renovated and was meant to be a home schooled school, a school focused on academics and art. We have built the school, found teachers passionate in their field, but now need assistance with marketing it and filling it. We saw a need in this city with many parents pulling their kids out of school because of politics, religion and other controversy. We wanted to focus on small classes and a school built for parents and kids, we adopted the schooling method from Norway and we believe in this vision and want to see kids succeed and the next generation be prosperous and influential. The gym we renovated and turned into an event space with a capacity of 200, this venue is for performances, artist and showcases, built by the community for community events.

I (jody) run the wedding venues, our manger runs the production company and nightclub and my business partner Eva runs the school. 

Eva is a teacher by trade and she has always homeschooled her 4 kids and my 2 kids, we have been partners for 9 years and we have seen each others kids born and grow together. Our kids are involved in the business as much as possible. Eva's husband passed away a few years ago from cancer and she has been running it along side me as a single mom, we are honoured that we can serve our city as women in business and moms of diversity. Evas connection with the filipino community and mine with the black community allows us to establish a name with many other groups and business owners. We are seeking a partner to assist in funding and guidance to take what we built to the next level. It's not about down sizing during difficult times it's about excelling, we are a brand, we did not build venues we branded our company. Foundry hosts weddings and events for clients all over the states and Canada because we market our brand not our venues. Our next goal once we have re-established what we built is to take our wedding venue, nightclub and school and build them in other cities and countries. 

Both Eva and I spent many years as youth building water wells and houses, teaching abroad in 3rd world countries or places that had natural disasters happen and through those times even though we didn't know each other we both had a servants heart and when we saw a need we knew we wanted to be part of a solution to fill those gaps. When we met, our vision and hearts aligned and there began foundry room.  Our vision for this company is to be a building block for other communities all over the world to grow by creating jobs, stability and ownership for people.
