The Finn and Felicia Centre

Empowering Children through Learning within Their Community

The Finn and Felicia Centre will be the location where I would be holding the Extracurricular Classes that I want to offer to children ages 3-9 years. I have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and have worked with children of varied ages and backgrounds for 32+ years. I live in a Rural Community where there is no access to activities of any type outside of the school setting.  Due to where I live there are no options for a commercial space or any type of community center or space to look at rental or lease options. I have found the perfect house that is in an excellent location, that has a detached garage with a carport and the space inside to comfortably run my classes. It is my intention to also live in the home, but my living space would be separate from the areas where I would be teaching classes with the exception of the kitchen which would also serve as my kitchen.
To start I intend to start the following types of classes/ activities: A Storytime Hour( we would read a book and then do an activity that would reflect the books theme) , a Young Readers Book Club ( the kids would pick the book the book that we focus on and discuss when we meet), Arts and Crafts Classes, Cooking Classes( these would focus on healthy nutritional options, basic skills and tasty recipes), A Outdoor Community Garden for Kids. It would be my intention to offer classes all year long and I would have the ability to create special events, additional classes, week long camps, the possibilities are truly endless.
The location that I am seeking to purchase would serve 2 different School Districts and offer Families from about 8-9 small towns access to these classes for their children. The nearest City for us is about 35-40 mins away and the nearest City that I have found that offers the occasional kids cooking class is about an hour away. All of these classes would be designed in a small group format so between 4-6-8 kids max depending on the type of class and the age of the children enrolled.  These classes would empower young children, expose them to new social situations, give them the opportunity to learn some life skills but most importantly it would allow them to be creative , use their imaginations and have fun all while experiencing Hands On learning.
In conclusion I feel very very passionate about this project. It is something that I have wanted to start for over a year now but the timing was always off. I believe that I possess the skills necessary to make this Business successful. There are certainly additional details that I can share with someone  interested in the  project.
The bottom line is I need help to raise the $125,000 to purchase the property. It is a big number, but it will be able to help many children to become more engaged in their Community. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you are able to help me realize a dream.
