My name is
Fatima Largaespada. I am requesting help to contribute to my development as an international fencer and en route to the Tokyo 2021 Olympics (former 2020). I have practiced fencing since I was 6 years old. My father, Luis Largaespada Bagatella, passed away in 2009 and his dream was always to see me represent Nicaragua in the biggest stage. In order to achieve this, I had to migrate to the United States to pursue a career as a professional athlete. I dedicated myself to my sport, obtained a fencing scholarship to attend Temple University where I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Strategic Communication and a Minor in Business. Following my graduation, I secured a position as the Head Fencing Coach for Wagner College's Division I Program while I was pursuing my MBA in Finance. In 2017, I started the 2021 Olympic cycle to put Nicaraguan Fencing on top. When I figured I could inspire people to follow my path, fencing stopped being a hobby, and became my lifestyle!

In recent years, I have worked very hard to secure a place in Tim Morehouse's Olympic medalist team at his Fencing Club in New York City to better prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In December 2017, I earned 3 medals, one silver and two bronzes, at the Central American Games held in Managua, Nicaragua. In 2018, I became a two-time Central American and was named the Best Nicaraguan Fencer. In November 2019, I became a Senior Central American Runner-up, ranking among the 30 best in the American continent. To this day, I can successfully say I have the Olympic Zonal Qualification secured.
However, while I have the secured qualification, there are many things in between that I need to account for. I am writing to request funding for the season to afford my athletic career and end the Olympic cycle on a good note. I have to account for coaching fees (both fencing and strenght and conditioning), floor fencing fees, physician fees individual lesson fees, travel and lodging fees, registration fees and equipment. I want to have the opportunity to grow my fencing career with your help.
