I am a retired neurologist. I've taught over 2500 medical students and residents at the University of Alabama and University of Maryland, and as a neurologist I understand how the brain learns. Instead of memorization and labeling, I emphasize how everything in sicence makes sense, and I do it in such a way that all students have to do is listen and watch. I want students to see exactly what I'm saying as I say it.
In 2007, I taught my biology curriculum just 1 hour a week to the entire junior class at Dunbar High School in Baltimore. Their pass rate on the statewide standardized HSA exams (for which passing was a requirement for graduation) rose from 40% passing the year before to 87% the year they used my biology curriculum. This is the only study I know of that demonstrated the superiority of a science curriculum.
I currently sell primarily to homeschoolers and have received a number of awards from homeschooling organizations.
I am seeking funding to help market my online curricula into broader markets, inlcuding international markets where the need for well-illustrated, clearly explained science curricula is also great. I also need to fund a qualified webmaster to expand the capacity of my website for additional students.
Finally, I am open to selling my company and maintaining a partnership interest as I will soon be creating a chemistry curriculum for 3rd grade students.
