CarFax but for the Refurbished Medical Equipment Industry - only at www.equiptrack.com.

Trends for buying used medical equipment have steadily moved towards on-line purchasing.  Buyers can purchase equipment thru on-line auction sites, reseller listing sites such as eBay or Independent Service Organization (ISO) product listings.  The buyer is typically challenged with finding recall and service information on these expensive pieces of equipment and has no visibility into the past maintenance events and struggles to understand if the equipment has been identified in FDA recalls.

The business supports medical equipment buyers and used equipment sellers by providing serial number specific Equipment Maintenance and Recall Reports – very much like a CarFax report for automobiles.  By providing reports, buyers and sellers get visibility to any related FDA recalls and any reported Maintenance and Inspection events for a specific serial number.  For buyers, this means that they can have a more complete understanding of the overall condition of the equipment and for sellers, offering a report can increase their selling price due to being more transparent to buyers.  Hospitals selling their retired equipment through resellers can also see increased sales revenue due to offering serial number specific Equiptrack Reports.

The business does this in several ways: 1). Gathering relevant Class 1 and 2 FDA recalls, analyzing them, and parsing critical information into a searchable database, 2). Partnering with industry CMMS platforms to gather maintenance tasks and inspections, 3). Providing a simple and easy method to both enter maintenance information and query the web site for serial number specific Reports, 4). Identifying No Recall Units so that Buyers and Sellers understand the unique nature of these valuable pieces of equipment, 5). Providing a buyer-centric Maintenance and Recall report that is both easy to understand and provides enough information for a Buyer to make a purchase decision.

The business is a startup and launched in January, 2023.  It provides medical equipment maintenance and recall reports thru its main web site www.equiptrack.com.  The site also includes a comprehensive Help and Feedback section and is also preparing to offer service Partner/Buyer lead generation services.  The site and backend is hosted by AWS to provide the fastest SN search capability and the shortest page load times.  The contract SW design team is based out of India and provides 24/7 support and is also a low cost software and app developer for the business.  In order to attract the best talent and manage costs, the business will be remote-first.  As the business grows its physical location may change and may be primarily based in the general Atlanta, GA area if necessary.

The business will be owned by a seasoned executive with 20+ years of Business, Quality and Engineering experience in various small businesses, large corporations and running his own medical equipment repair and maintenance business for the last 6 years.  His current and past professional work experience in large corporations, his own medical equipment business and the automotive industry provided the foundation for understanding the challenges in the medical equipment sales industry.  His successful hands-on experience in multiple startup companies in the healthcare device, medical equipment and commercial ice maker fields stressed the importance of low overhead, having a small footprint, and providing direct and tangible value to customers thru simple and easy business systems and processes.  He was initially introduced to the challenges of buying medical equipment through his own biomed business where, often, little information about expensive equipment led to receiving broken equipment or damaged equipment not disclosed in the product listing.

The online used medical equipment marketplace continues to grow in the US market and in other countries.  As this market expands, the need for a 3rd party, non-affiliated business, dedicated to providing non-biased equipment recall and maintenance reports will continue to increase.
