DisTal, Inc. is a medical technology company focused on redefining dialysis access through innovative vascular solutions designed to improve outcomes for patients with kidney disease. Our mission is to advance a more effective, patient-centered approach to access creation and management by developing technologies that simplify care delivery, reduce procedural burden, and enable better long-term clinical results.
Our lead technology is centered on a differentiated staged fistula approach to dialysis access creation that addresses persistent challenges associated with conventional access pathways. By reimagining how access is established and matured, DisTal seeks to enable a minimally invasive, more predictable pathway that supports physician decision-making, expands patient eligibility, and improves the likelihood of achieving durable dialysis access via a surgical fistula. In clinical use, we have also achieved dialysis catheter removal in more than half of treated patients.
DisTal was developed with a focus on physician usability, procedural efficiency, and seamless integration into real-world clinical practice, supported through close collaboration with clinicians and industry experts to address unmet needs and enable practical adoption without unnecessary complexity.
Our customers include hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, interventional and vascular specialists, dialysis organizations, nephrology practices, and integrated healthcare systems seeking differentiated technologies that enhance procedural workflows and patient outcomes. DisTal’s strategy combines proprietary technology development with rigorous clinical validation, regulatory execution, and targeted commercialization. Through partnerships with healthcare providers, health systems, physician networks, and distribution organizations, we aim to accelerate adoption of solutions that deliver measurable clinical value, improve operational efficiency, and support sustainable care models.
The ultimate beneficiaries of our work are patients living with stage 4 chronic kidney disease who depend on reliable, durable dialysis access. By combining differentiated technology, clinical insight, and patient-centered design, DisTal is working to shape the future of dialysis access—helping physicians deliver better care and improving the lives of patients with kidney disease.
DisTal’s leadership team, led by Dr. Michael Tal, brings extensive experience across medical devices, commercialization, clinical strategy, operations, and healthcare innovation. Collectively, the team has helped develop, launch, and scale multiple technologies across interventional medicine and vascular care, with seven successful exits, including three in dialysis access. Dr. Tal is the inventor behind two of the most widely adopted dialysis catheters on the market—Palindrome, acquired by Medtronic, and Pristine, acquired by BD—reflecting the team’s track record of translating innovation into meaningful clinical and commercial impact.
