My name is Cheryl Dohn and I am looking to raise $50k in funding to open a Pet Grooming Salon and Pet Retail in Desert Hot Springs, California. There's only 1 other Grooming Salon in the city of Desert Hot Springs. There is not 1 Pet Retail shop within 15 miles of Desert Hot Springs either. To purchase collars or leashes or dog name tags, a resident of Desert Hot Springs would have to travel 15 miles to Palm Springs to purchase any of these items. There are 2 Grocery stores that do carry dog food but are very limited in any other pet retail items. There also is a Dollar General Store that occasionally may have a leash to purchase but also is very limited on choices . I currently have $15k in the bank plus all the equipment and supplies needed (minus retail portion). I have been grooming for over 15 years and I was the manager of a very busy Grooming Salon in Palm Springs, California for over 5 years. I also was Grooming Salon Manager at a Petco Store in Ventura, California for 4 years prior to working in Palm Springs. The location I am currently interested in is asking for a 5 year lease term. I currently have a clientele base of 52 with multiple dogs per household. The average daily gross income is $380/day. An average of $65/dog and grooming an average day of 8 dogs would be $520/day. The lease terms are being negotiated but will cost about $3k per month in terms of rent plus overhead and utilities. I plan to be open 6 days a week and do not have any other employees yet. My vision is to have a retail section with collars and leashes and pet toys plus a small selection of dog and cat food. I also am planning to have a self wash station for DiYers that prefer to wash their own pet or who cannot afford a full service groom. I have a layout of the space and the renovations that would need to be done. I also have a full business plan with detailed information regarding funds needed and my projections. This has been a dream of mine for a long time and I hope I am able to make this dream a reality with a little help from an investor that loves animals and wants to help better a small community with a compassionate and experienced groomer to provide Grooming and retail for happy pets and happy pet parents. I have gotten a lot of support in my community and around the country through my GoFundMe campaign already but I still have not come up with enough to cover the expenses of renovation. I was able to successfully raise over $10k in mere hours due to the story of my dog Roxy Mama and I being featured on a poplar Animal Planet series, Pitbulls and Parolees, where I was featured reuniting with my dog after almost 2 years. She was very unhappy and aggressive and when she saw me, she turned into a happy puppy again. It was a very emotional reunion.
