I am a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who is developing a mobile application to teach people with speech production difficulties to correctly produce and practice specific speech sounds using an AI rather than relying on themselves or another person to determine whether they are producing the specific sound correctly.  To be able to accelerate progress, practice of the correct production of the sound is required as often as possible to reinforce what has been taught during the therapy session.  Currently, speech therapy applications require either the students themselves or another person, who is not trained in articulation, to monitor the quality of their production.  As well as allowing students who are currently receiving speech therapy a way to practice between sessions, this application will allow those who do not qualify for speech therapy to learn how to correctly produce the sounds they are having difficulty with. Videos will be available to demonstrate correct production of each sound and games will be available to keep students and clients interested.  Speech therapists will be able to assign specific sounds for their clients to work on and will have access to whether they are practicing what they have been taught and how well they are doing.  This application could also be helpful to people who are learning  English as a second language by demonstrating and allowing them to practice the correct production of specific sounds.
