Veteran Service Organization Chapter 39 in Bristol Tennessee (Disabled American Veterans 39) DAV has been growing by leaps and bounds over the last 5 to 10 years. We started with a log cabin home in Bristol, Tennessee and renovated it as much as the property would allow. We then sold our property there and moved into an old school building that was retrofitted into a community center. With the space there we have operated a food pantry, placed three veteran service officers in offices for veterans and their families to complete and file VA disabilities claims, a craft center for VA patients to come out of the hospital setting and work on projects at our location with ability to utilize our "Veterans Room" which has a large TV, pool table, and gaming systems while they are completing a treatment program. This only scratches the surface of our services to veterans and their families. We have recently been working with our National Organization by seeking out veterans affected by Hurricane Helene in Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina by completing their applications for disaster relief and getting them much needed funding from a check by National. Our source on income to operate is strictly donation only and we have nobody on the payroll. We are blessed to have veteran volunteers that are passionate about serving their fellow brothers and sisters in arms ensuring that we keep the promise to those who have served. Help in getting us our own piece of property and building would greatly allow us to ramp up our services and better help those veterans in need.
