Dancing in the Minefields: A Christian book to film project is the powerful true story of a family that lost everything except their faith. The story begins with Maribeth's first book, Christopher's Journey.  Christopher's Journey chronicles the four-year struggle of young Chris who lost his battle with leukemia at the age of 14.  During that time, Chris developed a wisdom far beyond his years, and on his deathbed, Chris witnessed to his parents about the power of Christ and the beauty of heaven.  But this did not happen right away. The book recounts Chris's irrepressible antics on the oncology ward( An empty syringe makes a great water pistol! ) and the family's bucket list adventures including the time they snuck Chris into a casino to play the slots. Just after his passing, Chris sends a miraculous sign to let his loved ones know he made it to heaven. ( Be sure to read the chapter entitled "A Feather Under My Pillow".

The Ditmars family story continues in Maribeth's most recent book, "Dancing in the Minefields, One Woman's Faith Journey through Child-Loss, Addiction, and Adversity.  After Chris's passing, Maribeth descends into alcoholism and nearly dies herself.  Like many other Christians, she looks good on the outside but is dying on the inside.  It is the memory of Chris's peaceful surrender that inspires Maribeth to get help. She becomes active in the recovery community, which continues to this day. But the family's trials are far from over. Their daughter becomes involved in drugs, and together Maribeth and Rob find themselves raising a granddaughter while their daughter gets help. For a while, they feel like a family again as their young granddaughter and their surviving son, Jarrod, become very close. Then tragedy strikes again, and Jarrod is killed in a freak accident. Rob and Maribeth have lived every parent's worst nightmare twice. But in the intervening years between Chris and Jarrod's deaths, the couple has clung to their faith and grown in their walk with the Lord, living out "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Maribeth now speaks at conferences and events encouraging others who have faced tragedy and adversity.

We are passionate about this film project because it speaks into the hearts of large segments of our society. So many are affected by addiction. So many families who have buried children suffer in silence.  Parents who have lost children need to hear the gospel so that they too can join their child in heaven someday.  Couples whose marriages have been shattered by tragedy can find new hope again. It is possible to find a peace that surpasses all understanding!

Is this a good investment? Faith-based films are one of the fastest-growing genres. The Sound of Freedom has grossed more than $248 million worldwide, The Jesus Revolution $54.2 million, The Blind $17.3 million, and The Chosen more than $14 million.( Just to name a few.) Non-Christians are tuning in too, and the door of salvation is being opened for them. So our project is a a solid earthly investment as well as a kingdom investment!

We have already funded our marketing, and our accounting( to be sure that our investors get paid!) The missing piece is the cost of the screenwriting. We are working with Voyage Media which has Hollywood and video streaming connections. The cost of screenwriting is 20 thousand. That is all that stands between us and the launch of this project.

In exchange for your investment, we are offering a 30 percent profit share on film proceeds and a 5 percent profit share on post-production book sales. You will receive quarterly reports on the progress of the project. To request complimentary copies of Maribeth's books reach out to her through her website or her email. Maribeth is also willing to zoom or travel to speak to your investment board. Contact information for Voyage Media is available upon request.
