Hello everyone,
My name is Shay Putnam I am 23 years old and the proud creator of DailyAdventureBox. I posted and shared a GoFundme at the beginning of 2019 and raised around $1,000 to pay for the costs of my first prototype. I am now asking the public to help with the costs for finishing the final product that will be placed into a majority of ski resorts in the United States. I am contracting with a kiosk company to develop the final product design for the DailyAdventureBox. This will allow us to jump into the market by the 2021/22 ski season. Since we are a start up business and have not gone to market yet here is what we do and what our vision is:
DailyAdventureBox is a self automated rental locker that will supply SkiByks to customers at ski resorts, mountain bikes at some of those resorts, surfboards at almost every parking lot that is close to some good waves, and paddle boards at beaches and lakes. We are starting our first product rental with SkiByk a local small business that has a patent pending design on the ski bike and has currently sold out of production the past 3 years in a row. I am currently drafting up a contract with SkiByk that will give DailyAdventureBox the exclusive rights to rent SkiByks at Ski Resorts. Then we will be moving on to other markets as mentioned above. The finished product is going to have an completely see through design allowing the customer to see into the box at almost every angle. We will be using a non-abrasive track that allows the customer to easily pull the SkiByk in and out of the rental locker. While using sensor on the track that can communicate with our software showing us that the SkiByk is returned safe and sound after each rental use. Using an on station kiosk or your smartphone, the customer will log in using their phone number or email. Once the customer has logged in at the kiosk, he/she will be directed to the home page allowing the customer to rent out as many SkiByks as they want for however long they want. All the information the customer needs will be readily available at the kiosk like: Waivers, insurance, how to video tutorials, optional snowboard boot and helmet rentals, etc. Having an all in one design allows customers to prebook the SkiByk in order to bypass any and all lines.. The DailyAdventureBox is also an anti-theft rental locker that allows you to store your gear inside using small hooks along the inner walls. If any person tries to break into the rental locker the kiosk will dial 911 with its exact location along with a loud alarm to deter anyone from theft of inside gear/equipment.
Why would ski resorts and businesses want to install a DailyAdventureBox, wouldn't it take away their future sales?
- We are starting our venture by offering SkiByk rentals to Ski Resorts around Lake Tahoe. No resorts in Lake Tahoe offer SkiByk rentals and no resort has the ability to rent SkiByks with COVID-19 affecting the projected revenue for this 2020/21 ski season. Ski Resorts simply can not afford to spend $1,200 per SkiByk along with the other maintenance fee's that will coincide when operating the SkiByk rentals. Noticing this DailyAdventureBox offers Ski Resorts a perfect solution to their future problems of a decreasing ski season and loss of sales due to COVID-19. We offer a contactless rental of a new upcoming sport (SkiByk) that is very fun to ride and very easy on your body for no cost to the Ski Resort. All the ski resort has to do is give DailyAdventureBox a certain amount of space anywhere at their resort to install some rental boxes. The only thing we would ask the resort to do is provide maintenance on the SkiByks through their existing rental shops. In return the ski resorts will get a certain % gratuity on each rental depending on the ski resort location and their rental shop prices to compare with. The ski resort will send DailyAdventureBox an invoice every month or season for the total cost of repairs done by their rental shop and DailyAdventureBox would pay for those repairs. So if you think about it the only thing DailyAdventureBox is taking from the ski resort is some of its employee's time and a little bit of space. I have a breakdown of small, medium, and large resorts income from sales of the DailyAdventureBox that shows ski resorts can raise part-time employee pay with the income from DailyAdventureBox. They can also fit equipment, lower lift ticket costs, and push out needed advertising since COVID-19 will most likely still be around. Ski resorts in particular need DailyAdventureBox because we offer a new innovative way for contactless rentals that will only increase their rental fleet and increase their revenue for limited amount of work from their rental staff.
**If DailyAdventureBox only stays in the Lake Tahoe area that is 13 resorts with 17.7 million ski visits per season putting us in a $885million market . Just for the SkiByk rental option that none of the resorts in Lake Tahoe offer as of today. There is guaranteed sales in this forecast and it will only increase as we move into the summer market with paddle-boards, and kayaks. DailyAdventureBox wants the ski community to enjoy the new sport of SkiByk and will provide the public with innovative technology to by pass rental lines so you can start shredding the mountain sooner. We aim to be in 213 ski resorts by 2025 offering SkiByk rentals for $40-90/per rental and optional half day rentals. DailyAdventureBox wants to jump start the new sport of SkiByk and grow its business into other areas around the West coast. We are starting with SkiByk because of our good relationship with the SkiByk CEO and its pending patented design. SkiByk has sold out of production 2 years in a row since starting mass production out of China. SkiByk has the potential to be sponsored in the X-Games in the near future and in my eyes could potentially be in the Olympics. There are endless possibilities when it comes to SkiByk and we are excited to bring this product to you. The ease of riding for beginners is unremarkable and this product allows just about anyone to enjoy the mountain. The SkiByk has the ability to go off jumps in the terrain park, and if you have a previous knee or leg injurys the SkiByk is a great solution, putting less strain on your legs while shredding the slopes. DailyAdventureBox wants nothing more than to succeed and create happiness on the mountain. Todays technology is forever changing and with COVID-19 still lingering around we want to provide you a new experience on the mountain at relatively low costs. When we get into ski resorts we will make sure proper protocol is taken to keep the SkiByks in good condition and we will keep them clean for all users.
Why do we need your help to succeed?
Since 2019 I have put most of my own money and effort into creating this business. After countless phone calls I ended up getting into contact with the CEO of SkiByk. I told him about my idea and was given a month to create a prototype that was going to be showcased at Sierra-at-Tahoe. At that moment in time I only had rough sketches of a self automated rental locker for SkiByk. I knew my vision for SkiByk would work and that my passion for snowboarding would create a product that would propel SkiByk in the right direction. So, I quickly went to work gathering supplies and welded up a prototype rental locker that you see in the profile picture. This prototype was my pride and joy and I put many hours into creating it. I learned how to weld aluminum, wire a solar panel to a server that would communicate to a lock, read many books about creating an start up business. I also learned how to graphic design using different internet software, and I ended up with one of the senior members of Schlage locks on the phone who sent me an engineer that helped me install a Schlage lock for the rental box. I did all of this while taking 23 units my last semester of college and I was in the process for training to become a Marine Corps Officer. When I showcased the DailyAdventureBox I generated over 200 surveys that showed the demand for SkiByks at ski resorts and was told by Sierra-at-Tahoe to finish the box as soon as possible so we can talk about installing it. All in all, everyone loved the concept and they were all excited for the future of this business. But with all of this hype for SkiByk I only can do so much without capitol. I have built this business from nothing and I am currently working hard to pay off student loans which leaves me with little to no capitol to self fund this business. I am doing all I can to keep the momentum going and trying my best to stay motivated but I have been at a stand still for the past two-three months. I am unable to do this alone, and with COVID happening I understand that most people probably cannot afford to help me in my journey. But I only need a few more things to complete in order to get my product at ski resorts by next season.
Thank you for your time reading this.
