Kung Fu Cowboys is an upcoming feature film written by Davy Williams and produced by Kung Pao Pictures. It serves as a sequel to the American independent action films Chinese Speaking Vampires and Kung Fu Slayers.

Kung Fu Cowboys is a Western Action film featuring Kung Fu, vampires, American humor, Old West scenes, and elements of Chinese culture. The production company aims to cast well-known Hollywood actors in key roles to boost the film’s commercial value and appeal to audiences.

Chinese Speaking Vampires, the first of Davy Williams’ five films, was first conceived by him in an AFI film class in Los Angeles in 2014. He wanted to make a film that could show off his own Mandarin speaking abilities, acting talent, love of Kung Fu and Chinese culture, as well as make opportunities for Chinese actors. He set out to write the feature screenplay, and after several years of writing and re-writes, the script was finished in 2019. Production began in 2020, and it was released on streamers in 2021. Chinese Speaking Vampires, garnered 100,000 streaming views within just a few months and was released on Amazon Prime and VUDU.

The Market

The strategy of making films in well-established genres has been proven time and time again to be a smart and sound choice for production. Traditionally, the fortunes of independent filmmakers have always cycled up and down from year to year. With Hollywood being more inclusive and looking to help underrepresented actors, there is a good market for productions featuring Asian and Native American actors.

Audience

This film targets young and middle-aged Americans (aged 14–45) who enjoy vampire and action movies, as well as the Asian market across all age groups. A similar low budget Western-Action film, Blood Tomahawk, has grossed several million dollars off a 1.8 million dollar budget.

Distribution Strategy

Our movie already has two distributors interested: 123Go Distribution and Multivisionnaire Pictures. These distributors intend to submit the completed film to the most prestigious and successful annual film festivals, Sundance Film Festival (Park City, Utah - January), Toronto International Film Festival (Toronto, Canada - September), and The Cannes Film Festival and will use best efforts to negotiate with a distributor upon or near completion of principal photography prior to entering any film festival. They also intend to sell the project to international territories like SE Asia and Europe.
