“Rei” translates to “universe” or “life force,” and “ki” translates to the physical energy of the body (also known as qi); put together, Reiki translates to “universal life force energy.” Originating in Japan, Mikao Usui developed Usui Reiki Ryoho in 1922 but studies show people have practiced Reiki for about 2500 years.
As Reiki practitioners we guide the flow of energy to promote healing throughout the body. Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness. Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. As Reiki practitioners believe that improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, relieve pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.
With first hand experience in the power of Reiki, meditation and yoga, we aim to help others heal in a more holistic way. Reiki is offered in more than 60 U.S hospitals and education is offered at 800 hospitals with an estimate of 30,000 nurses using this method. It is often seen in Oncology for cancer patients as they are more sensitive to western treatment.
The COVID-19 pandemic has met international health systems with a low level of preparedness and emergency response. While the emergence of effective vaccines has offered the Governments, scientific communities, and members of the public a possible way out of the pandemic, effective pharmacotherapy, including immunotherapy for COVID-19 prevention and treatment, are yet to be established. Internationally, this has led to a surge in the demand and supply of many complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) and practices. Recent studies have shown increasing CAM information requests made to pharmacists and other healthcare staff from members of public and patients aimed at prevention, symptoms relief or treatment of COVID-19
