We’re Amber and Michael—co-founders, partners in life and business, and the muddy-boot-wearing dreamers behind Crunchy Mamas, soon to become Cascadia Roots. From our solar-powered lab in Oregon, we handcraft clean, plant-based skincare with zero synthetic chemicals and a whole lot of love. Our mission? To create skincare that’s kind to bodies, communities, and the planet.
With 45+ combined years of experience—Michael as a third-generation salon professional and former production brewer, and Amber as the Executive Director of a local nonprofit—we’ve poured our passion into building a brand people trust. And now, it’s time to grow.
Why We’re Asking for Funding:
We’re in the middle of an exciting transition: evolving our brand from Crunchy Mamas to the more inclusive Cascadia Roots. We’ve outgrown our DIY startup roots, and we’re ready to expand—ethically, sustainably, and boldly.
Since launching in 2019, we’ve become a staple in Oregon’s artisan clean beauty scene. Our online following has grown to over 20,000 web fans, and our booth is a favorite at local events. As the global clean beauty industry rockets toward $55 billion by 2027, we’re positioned to take a bigger seat at the table—without selling our souls to Big Lotion™.
Here’s What Your Support Will Fund:
• A Full Rebrand + Marketing Refresh
Launching Cascadia Roots with fresh visuals, inclusive messaging, and a brand identity that reflects who we are today—and who we serve.
• Product Line Expansion
Developing new small-batch formulas that meet our ultra-clean standards, including our growing lineup of all-natural pain relief and recovery products.
• Production Upgrades
Investing in better equipment to meet demand while keeping our commitment to low-waste, solar-powered manufacturing.
• Stronger Market Presence
Growing through marketing, retail partnerships, and storytelling that highlights our mission and values.
Community Impact (Because It’s Not Just About Skin)
• Sports & Wellness Partnerships
We’re seeking to build connections with Portland’s pro women’s teams (including the Thorns and upcoming WNBA team) to feature our muscle recovery products in their wellness offerings.
• Giving Back to Youth Sports
We donate products to Cherry City Junior Roller Derby and Special Olympics Oregon—programs that have personally supported our own family.
• Lifting Up Local Athletes
We’re committed to making clean, plant-based skincare accessible to Salem’s youth and women’s sports communities.
