Problem:
International shipping via big carriers and postal services sucks.

The big carriers (DHL, UPS, Fedex) pose a series of problems for ecommerce stores looking to expand internationally, that small carriers don’t have.

- Surprise, unpredictable costs. Customer feels deceived. Abandoned packages at customs. Bad experience. Bad marketing.
- High price, disproportionate against goods value. Abandoned carts.
- Restrictions greater than those of courier laws.
- Lack of effective seller support.
- Lack of seller training: marketing best practices outside of US, regulations, shipping financials, offer creation.

Opportunity:
The scale of small carriers poses a barrier for  stores and those companies to find each other. Also, most companies have basic technology, enough to bridge the gap.

Enter Crossborderly: a DDP shipping app to leverage small carrier network. By April 2023 Crossborderly serves 90% of Latin America and 100% of the European Union.

TAM: 2.5 million ecommerce stores in the US.

The average Crossborderly customer ships between 50 and 100 packages per month, with some reaching 200 packages/month.

Background:
It started as an offline service. Moved into app stage after 20 paying customers.

As an executive at a small carrier with 20+ years in operations, that server over 2M customers, I saw the need to create a service for sellers.

I created the product internally and got several paying customers. But the process was all manual which wasimpossible to scale.

Given ecommerce platforms restrictions and my own experience, the solution is to create a series of apps for every major marketplace.

Current State:
There are a  small number of paying customers, and the Shopify MVP v1 approved by Shopify and several additional features under development after initial tests.

The funding I’m requiring is to be able to dedicate 100% to this project, start developing WooCommerce, Etsy, et al., shipping apps and start marketing to onboard several brands with a remote team of marketers and onboarding agents.

Monetization:
- Shipping fees.
- Self-Insurance arbitrage
- Coaching/Consulting/Community
- Launchpad via Diilz marketplace (agreement in place to monetize my previous employer’s 2M customer database of ecommerce buyers in LATAM)

Competitors:
- ShipStation and similar

Crossborderly’s Competitive Advantage:
- They only provide technology bridges,, Crossborderly also provides a vast knowledge base of best practices for business enabling
- Cultural advantage
- Monetizable customer base from carrier relationships
- No entry barrier, 1 package is good for us
- 41+ Countries server with only 2 carriers, with upcoming meeting for a 3rd carrier to enter Canada, UK, and other countries
