To help start small daycares open together so we can afford to be in the market

My name is Denise Hoglin I own Little Leaps and Bounds Day Center. I made it my mission to help change the system of the problem with waitlists for families needing daycare. The way this city is growing as you all know, is making it harder to find care for the families in any community. My point is that the small daycares cannot afford to be in this market unless we are of 16 children or more, this is not who we are. We are intimate care providers who are licenced to practise as Early Childcare Educators in the crisis of losing small businesses in this field.
On April of 2023, I contacted ten small daycares that have eight multi-age children or less, this included in-home daycares. Six out of ten would love to open a second center or they want to move the daycare out of their homes to have eight children in a center.
I have created a business called “Collective of Small Day Centers”. A business for the providers who want to be in the market, who want to produce and flourish the best care for every child and create an exceptional experience for all families in this great city of Kelowna. I collaborated with three other daycare owners who want to join in my campaign, to lease out a building that will accommodate all small care providers to make this profitable for everyone. This involvement in the new growing trend that I and the collective have started, would love the city of Kelowna to be the first to support our small business idea.
